Pros

- Benefits package is great. 37 days of PTO, an employer funded HSA, and solid insurance. - Work life balance: you are encouraged to use your PTO and have the flexibility to go to appointments, etc throughout the work day so long as you are getting your work done. Never once been denied a PTO request. I have also never been asked to stay overtime, although I have heard of it happening to others. - Friendly culture, most people you work with are pleasant to be around, helpful, and intelligent.

Cons

- You'll see it in every cons list on here, the pay is subpar and the company knows it. They claim to be "looking into" raises soon. Take that with a grain of salt. Pay is decent for the entry level and a good starting point, but for experienced employees, you can almost certainly make more elsewhere. - Archaic attitude toward remote work. Work was remote during the pandemic, but management has slowly started pressuring people back into the office. Communication regarding this transition has been abysmal, we even had a form to fill out stating our preferences and then had them blatantly ignored. I have little doubt that we will be forced back to the office once the new building is finished, despite them knowing full well that almost everyone in the company prefers hybrid/remote work. I expect an increase in the already rather high turnover rate once this happens. - Very poor onboarding process. You will be asked to complete a project that has very little to do with your day to day work, as it is using extremely outdated technologies that are no longer used. You will be expected to just up and learn the new technologies and processes that are actually being used while on the job. Very frustrating. - An excessive amount of meetings for developers. In a 2 week sprint, there are maybe 3-4 days where we actually get to focus on development. So much time is wasted on irrelevant meetings. Scrum masters that do nothing but schedule meetings will then complain about roll over and expect you to get everything done in very little time. -Salesforce is very frustrating to work with. You will spend as much time or more troubleshooting issues with orgs and updates as you do actually building things. It gets tedious fast and leads to rapid burnout. -Promotions are based almost entirely around time in the position rather than performance. I know several mid level engineers that could very easily be senior if not for arbitrary promotion dates.

Low morale due to major changes in the past year

Pros

I've gotten to work with some great people. Some have left, others have stayed. PTO is solid, and I've never had to fight for any time I've requested off. The pay isn't stellar, but it doesn't feel unfair either. Great HSA as well.

Cons

My main concern, as is the trend with most reviews in the past ten months, is the mandate to return to office five days per week. HQ in Wilmington made the change at the beginning of this year right as 7% of employees were let go, and SLC is making the change in October. HR responded to a recent Glassdoor review stating that they no longer feel the need to defend their decision to return to office. That's very disheartening to hear as a SLC employee who is about to undergo the change. The decision to move back to the office for us was coupled with the announcement that the office was moving from Cottonwood Heights to Lehi (about 25 miles away). Anyone who has experienced rush hour traffic at Point of the Mountain knows that this change isn't minor. SLC is simply a more sprawled out city than Wilmington, and I think our executive team needs to consider that. Supposedly, the move back to the office at HQ hasn't resulted in major attrition, but morale has felt low, and the reviews and average rating on Glassdoor reflects unease within the company. People made important financial and personal decisions based on the lie that we wouldn't ever go back to a 5-day-a-week in office company. For reference, search for a WECT Channel 6 News article on May 26, 2021 where Pierre discussed a hybrid model. He's quoted saying, “I will let them work where they feel they can do their best work," but that, "We’re going to make it so exciting to be back in the office, to collaborate with your friends and colleagues, that I think we will see people working in the office two or three days a week, maybe four days sometimes.” If I had my choice, I'd rather that nCino proved that they could make going back to the office exciting while letting us work where we feel we can do our best work. At the very least, I want to believe that our feedback will be heard as the SLC office makes the change. It's a decision that is clearly upsetting many people. Shutting reviews down with responses that say that the company doesn't feel the need to defend itself anymore—despite nearly every review bringing it up as a massive con—feels disingenuous and soulless.

Thank you for taking the time to share you thoughts. However, as you share in your feedback, we are no longer debating nor defending our decision to return to office. This decision is in no way intended to shut down feedback from our employees. We create numerous forums and opportunities for our employees to share their thoughts and feedback and to ask questions that are on their minds. We do this to constantly demonstrates our commitment to capturing the thoughts, ideas and suggestions of our workforce - and that feedback has and will continue to influence many decisions and outcomes. However, the decision to return to office has been made and we are not changing that decision. We have promised to continue to offer the flexibility that we have always offered our global team members to ensure they are able to successfully integrate their work and life. Thank you again for your feedback.

Pros

This will be the most honest review that you will ever read. - Good benefits, especially for Wilmington, NC area. - Immediate coworkers and lower level management are typically amazing to work with. These specific people are generally kind, intelligent, helpful, and empathetic. - Executive leadership is very open during anonymous Q&A all hands meetings with the questions they decide to answer. If they miss your question, don’t worry. They’ll try to get to it next time. If they miss it again, feel free to quit and find another job because nCino has to move forward and I truly believe it is a privilege and an honor to work here. - Snacks and drinks are provided for you in office, which is nice since you’re required to be there 5 days a week and might get a hankering for a fizzy water and trail mix. - Brand new office building, which is super nice to look at while you walk around looking for an open phone booth. - Reimbursement for Salesforce certifications, once you pass the exams after your third try. - Experience you gain at nCino will possibly get you a 40-150% salary increase with other tech companies or banks when you decide to leave. - Sweet block parties, where you will get to learn about how great it is to work at nCino and learn about the awesome investors that made nCino possible. - Food trucks and/or catering, sometimes. The great thing about this, is you never have to leave work for lunch and you can get back to your computer a little faster than you would otherwise. - Catchy phrases like “culture eats strategy for breakfast,” “we’re a family,” “keep your people happy and they will care about the company” that will keep you motivated and content. These phrases mean something here! Because family is forever. - You get a paycheck. It might not be on par with market value for your experience, skills, certifications, and education, but you’ll definitely get a paycheck. - Overtime pay is available for certain positions. nCino no longer encourages you to not put all the time you work on your time sheet, which is cool. - Tons of meetings, which is great because you’ll always be privy to what leadership wants you to know is happening and it’s definitely not because the scrum process is another form of micromanagement. - 100% in office. I put this as a benefit because it is needed to facilitate great communication and collaboration. Including with your 100% remote colleagues that you will have on the screen in the meeting. Also including your 100% remote customers that you will collaborate with via Zoom. - Occasional checks received in the mail. Who doesn’t love extra money? Thank you, gentlemen of different companies who make agreements! - Employee stock purchase plan is offered. It’s always a sweet adrenaline rush to race against the clock and actually make the discount worth it. - Sweet jokes during all hands meeting from the executive team. While explaining that nCinos low pay is due to nCino keeping us employed during rough times, the CEO made jokes about people who had left the company for more money, only to be laid off at their new company, which would never happen at nCino. Thank goodness for good leadership and job security. Layoffs are scary! - Ability to move to new positions after two years of service. Lower level management is good about trying to get you where you want to go.
