During this time, our leaders express their gratitude and appreciation for their service and sacrifices, as well as their contributions at Behr. Our service members are exemplars of honor, service and courage, and contribute greatly to our culture and our success.

BEHR TEAM MEMBERS VOLUNTEER WITH MILITARY SERVICE MEMBERS Behr participated as a sponsor of Working Wardrobes’ Power Up for Success Women’s event at a Southern California military base. Five team members volunteered to help active duty and transitioning Marines and Sailors with professional wardrobe selection, head shots, and career information. Our own Virginia Sanchez served on a career panel, sharing the story of her transition to civilian life and path to her current role. She and the other panelists also provided advice on how to transfer military skills to corporate skills.
HELPING OUR TEAM MEMBERS TAKE CHARGE OF THEIR CAREERS To support our team members’ career growth, we host panel discussions with internal company experts on a variety of topics. Our most recent event featured 3 team members from a variety of roles, including Duranda Bennett, Regional Sales Manager and 2022 DEI Council Board member. The panelists shared their personal philosophies on mentoring: the impact of being a mentee/mentor in their career, the differences between being a mentor and a mentee, and how Behr has supported them in their career journey. Team members had the opportunity to ask questions and follow up with the panelists to further build their networks.

SUPPORTING DISABILITY INCLUSION AT BEHR Behr team members recently had the opportunity to attend an expert panel discussion on disability inclusion. This event was hosted by Masco Corporation, Behr’s parent company, and our national diversity partner, Disability:IN, the leading nonprofit for business disability inclusion worldwide. During the session, team members learned that 70-75% of disabilities are non-apparent. They also gained insights into ways to create a more welcoming, accommodating, and inclusive workplace so those with disabilities can participate fully and meaningfully.

Sandra Reyes, our Sr. Director of People Services, shared how she moved from Michoacan to the US at the age of 3, and the ways she continues to stay connected to her heritage and culture. Participants also learned about common stereotypes, specific strategies for actionable allyship, and the power of Hispanic inclusion.

BEHR TEAM MEMBERS VOLUNTEER AT CALIFORNIA COASTAL CLEAN-UP DAY Last weekend, Behr team members hit the beach in Long Beach, CA to pick up trash and plastic pollution at the Aquarium of the Pacific’s annual cleanup event. Many of the participants were doing this for the second year in a row. On this beautiful day, the team enjoyed the opportunity to spend time outdoors and help make a difference. It was a good reminder that we can all do our part to help pick up trash in our local communities whenever we can.

Supporting OCAPICA, our Orange County Philanthropy Partner On September 14, Orange County Asian Pacific Islander Community Alliance (OCAPICA) hosted their annual Tastemakers of Orange County fundraising event which celebrated Asian and Pacific Islander-inspired cuisines created by distinguished chefs throughout Orange County. Two of our Behr team members enjoyed the food, festivities, and entertainment. Behr is a proud supporter of OCAPICA and admires the work they have done in our community for the past 25 years, including programs and services around mental and physical health; youth development; housing assistance; policy education; and anti-Asian racism.
