BEHR TEAM MEMBERS SUPPORT KIDS OCEAN DAY On May 31, Behr volunteers joined nearly 600 elementary school students at Huntington State Beach to support Kids Ocean Day, an annual statewide celebration to protect the world’s oceans. Orange County Coastkeeper, a Behr philanthropy partner, organized the event. Alongside their team, Behr team members helped educate the students about ocean issues, collect trash, and create a beautiful aerial art project. With Sunday being World Environment Day, this event was a great reminder to our team members and the students to reconnect to the natural world, and find ways to protect, clean up, and restore our environment.

CELEBRATING AAPI HERITAGE MONTH AT BEHR For Asian American & Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month, we featured video spotlights of team members from different heritages within the AAPI community. They shared their culture and traditions, favorite foods, holidays, and family stories. Our parent company, Masco, also hosted a panel discussion, “Bridging the Gap: Understanding Asian and Pacific Islanders”, which featured Victoria Ip, Sales Director of Behr’s Diversified Channel. The facilitator and panelists shared individual stories of their AAPI culture and offered a greater understanding of Asian cultural values and common misconceptions, to support greater AAPI connection and allyship in the workplace.

Chris is a Regional Sales Manager out of Kansas City, MO, and received recognition from our parent company, Masco, for his volunteer efforts with Veterans Community Project (VCP), an organization that provides housing and a veterans’ outreach center for those who have served in the military. A $5,000 grant will be given in Chris’ name to VCP. Chris has helped organize and lead three Behr Midwest volunteer events for this organization over the last several years, and donated his personal time as well to help paint tiny homes that serve as refuges for veterans experiencing homelessness. Thanks, Chris, for dedicating your time to support those who have served our country.

Behr Celebrates its 11-year Partnership with Fresh Artists In honor of Behr’s 75th anniversary, we unveiled a colorful mosaic banner at our corporate headquarters, featuring art by our team members and young artists who’ve been served by our nonprofit partner, Fresh Artists. All artwork was created using recycled Behr paint color chips! Behr also donated funds to Fresh Artists, enabling them to create and provide 1000 innovative Chip Art kits to art teachers in underfunded public schools across the US. Our long-standing partnership acknowledges our shared commitment—to give children access to quality public art education and to demonstrate and teach children about sustainability by repurposing Behr’s obsolete paint chips, otherwise destined for a landfill, into brilliant works of art!

Despite a wind chill of 22 degrees, snow showers, and ice floating down the river, six of our Allentown Behr team members participated in the Lehigh Valley Polar Plunge in Easton, PA! They committed to “Freezin’ for a reason” to help raise funds to benefit the more than 2700 Special Olympics athletes in Pennsylvania. Way to go team!

These tours are part of our efforts to regularly ask for feedback and act on it so we can continue to grow and improve. In response to the learnings, Behr hosted multiple sessions of a Collaborating Across Generations workshop. This practical session offered guidance on how to better communicate and adjust your style when giving feedback or assigning tasks, and received rave reviews from our team members: “very eye opening”, “ I had so many aha moments”, and “one of the most informative sessions I have been to in a long time!”
