"When it’s time for me to retire and leave Chick-fil-A, Inc., I don’t think I’m solely going to be thinking back on all of the real estate deals I was involved in. I’m going to be reflecting on the people who I met, the people who I led, the people who I got to serve. At the end of the day, what I’ll think about are the individuals and the relationships. And that’s because we truly have a culture of care. The thing about care, is it’s easy to turn it into a throw-around word. And that’s dangerous. Because when it’s just words, people feel that. With a real culture of care, there have to be multiple ways that care is manifested and delivered to people. All of them are important, and all of them matter. I'm a people leader. Sometimes people experience life events that are really hard. Of course we're accountable for making sure that people are doing their job. But there are some times when life is more important. And there are more concrete ways that we express care. At Chick-fil-A, care manifests in our benefits and compensation. We have our health insurance premiums paid for. We have a pension — unheard of these days — as well as a 401(k) match. There’s also a child care center on-campus, open to staff based on availability. We get our lunch paid for every day that we’re in the office. And we hire people who will continue to exhibit and spread an attitude of care.” — Sean Warren, New Restaurants Real Estate Team

"When I talk about Chick-fil-A, Inc., the main thing I tell people about is the opportunities we have for growth — especially in my role, as a software engineer in Chick-fil-A's Digital Fellow Program. It is such a big investment for Chick-fil-A in me as an individual. That is just not a common thing in other companies." — Julianny Pinott Velez, Software Engineer, Digital Fellow Program

"One of the most meaningful deals that I have done in real estate for Chick-fil-A, Inc. was our 3,000th store opening. And it wasn’t because of the novelty of that milestone. It was because of the way that community is undergoing revitalization. We had previously operated a Chick-fil-A restaurant in the adjacent mall. Unfortunately, the mall had experienced a decline over the years, and that restaurant was closed for quite some time. Now, as of November 2023, we have opened back up as a free-standing restaurant, returning to a community that we were a part of before. It brings a lot of hope back with it. I was honored to participate in the real estate negotiations for the new property, located right at the entrance to that same mall in Red Bird, Texas. The developers were great to work with, and it worked out that the property was big enough for us to build there. Being there now - especially being positioned on the main entrance road - it feels like we’re there to welcome the community back to an area of town that we are grateful to be a part of.” - Kyana Bascomb, Real Estate, SW Region

“I took some FMLA leave last year for about eight weeks. My people leader wrote me a handwritten letter on painted watercolor stationery every single week. In each message of encouragement, he also included words of support that he had sourced from other people I had worked with. It was incredible. And it showed care in a way I never expected.” — Amanda Hand, Analytics Services Team, Enterprise Data & Analytics

“I’m not sure what came first, my love for cows or Chick-fil-A. For years I had always joked with friends and family that ‘If I buy the cow, can you just give it a place to live?’ – but hadn’t had much luck! I joined Chick-fil-A, Inc. almost three years ago on the Cybersecurity Engineering team, reuniting with a former colleague turned close friend, Sarah Hutcheson. While the last three years have been the most fulfilling time of my career, last year at my wedding truly showed me how unique and caring our culture is. Going back to my love for cows, as my wedding drew closer - Sarah had reached out and asked who I worked most closely with in my team. Little did I know that, on my wedding day, this would lead to a surprise that to this day still shocks me. As I approached the gift table at our wedding, I noticed the cutest framed photo of a baby Scottish Highland Cow. The frame was signed by friends, family and colleagues who had all come together to make my dream of owning a cow come true. Fast forward to today, and Monday the Cow lives a comfortable life on a farm in North Georgia. Working at Chick-fil-A, Inc. has been a dream come true in of itself, and the experiences and relationships I have developed will last a lifetime.” - Angela H., Principal Cybersecurity Architect, Digital Transformation & Technology

“A lot of what I love about Chick-fil-A , Inc. is that it’s a really good combination of challenge and care. The company continues to grow each year. One of my leaders once advised me to ensure that my personal growth rate keeps up with the company’s growth rate. And I find that to be really challenging and inspiring. I get to work with really sharp people who just help me grow overall, and that inspires me. The company also gives us the resources to grow, such as a professional development budget. Most of my professional growth happens on the job through new project challenges, but I've also been able to take online Spanish language lessons every week over the past year as well. It’s especially valuable to my work as we do more marketing and advertising in Spanish throughout the US. This learning is a key part of my job. For example, my team performs creative advertising evaluations, including surveys when we have certain ads out in the market. We’re asking questions to understand if people like the ads and how they can be improved, if at all. At the same time as I’m growing professionally, I also feel a very high level of care. The intentional time that my coworkers share together creates a culture where I feel like my team really cares about me. They are my friends, and I can show up to work and be my full authentic self." - Charlie Farr, Customer & Market Insights

"My international background is a big part of what has motivated me to succeed as a participant in the Chick-fil-A, Inc. Leadership Development Program. I appreciate that professional development like this doesn’t always exist in other countries. And even better – this career acceleration program is embedded within a culture of care where I have felt fully accepted and welcomed as my authentic self. Growing up in Russia, my family had a lot of love but very little in terms of income. Through the incredible training as an LDP participant, every restaurant assignment has provided me with opportunities to serve those I’m working with, support the success of the business, and develop myself as a leader early in my career. I work hard because I want to bring success to the Chick-fil-A restaurants that I am assigned to, but also because I want to give back to my parents who sacrificed so much so that I could have a better future. Their determination to thrive in countries that don’t offer many opportunities - that is a huge factor in what drives me to succeed in a country like the U.S. - and in a company like Chick-fil-A - that does offer opportunities." - Samantha Danilova, Chick-fil-A, Inc. Leadership Development Program participant

Chick-fil-A recently celebrated one of its most meaningful traditions, Founder’s Day – a day for Operators, Staff and Chick-fil-A Alumni to take time to connect and reflect on the life of S. Truett Cathy, founder of Chick-fil-A. Founder’s Day is celebrated annually, around the anniversary of the opening of the Dwarf Grill, Truett’s first restaurant (now known as the Dwarf House), in 1946. This year will be the 10th annual Founder’s Day, with a theme of “legacy” to reflect on S. Truett Cathy’s inspiring legacy. Hear what one staffer has to say about Founder’s Day: “Founder’s Day is a special moment for our organization to pause and remember our Founder, S. Truett Cathy, and how he built this business while caring for those around him. This time serves as a reminder that our culture, our secret sauce, began with him. Our theme this year is “Legacy” and I can’t think of a better way to celebrate Truett than to reflect on our lives and the legacy we are all leaving, too.” - Ashley Houchins, Culture

“When people come to visit me on the Chick-fil-A, Inc. campus, they often say to me, amazed, ‘I can’t believe how nice people are here.’ It’s easy to think that nice is just on the surface. But at Chick-fil-A, Inc., it’s not like that. The niceness is genuine. There’s action behind it. I could have the most minuscule ask of someone, and they will always come back around and follow through. All over campus, you hear people saying, ‘My pleasure.’ Just like at the restaurants. It’s the actions behind those words that give them meaning.” — Robert Sosebee, Customer Technology Solutions
