Family-owned, Family-involved These four words characterize the Leader family’s role in the senior living profession for more than 55 years. Three generations of our family are employed by Country Meadows, and collectively we have more than 150 years of experience in healthcare. I like to say the profession is imbedded in our family genes. So, you might say, “What’s the big deal? ” The deal is about quality and experience. My father used to say, “You pay a lot more attention to what’s happening and work harder when your name is attached to the business.” And, I might add, because we love what we do. We understand the critical success factors in senior living and know when something is missing. Unlike providers whose corporate leadership is headquartered in another state or even on the West Coast, our family lives and works in central Pennsylvania. We can drive to every campus easily. Family members work on a campus or visit one or more of our communities every week. With so many years of experience, along with regular exposure to what’s happening through personal visits, we are better able to assess problems when they exist and start the process to fix them. While we celebrate our co-workers year round, September is our chosen time to host events to honor and recognize long-term co-workers celebrating milestone service anniversaries in assisted living. Our senior communities have many success stories to share as many co-workers have moved up the ladder to positions with increasing responsibility.
One of life’s joys is good food. Most people LOVE to eat! Breaking bread is also profoundly social. Families and neighbors gather for conversation at the table, and food is an occasion for sharing celebrations and making connections. In addition to opportunities for companionship and celebration, food is life-sustaining, and senior living dining teams work hard to lead and provide healthy, delicious meals, snacks and treats. National Assisted Living Week is an annual observance of the great value of personal care and assisted living services within senior living communities around the country. Not only does this week, falling on September 13 th - 19 th this year, recognize the importance of such care for our seniors, it exists to thank the many amazing individuals who work in the industry as well.
Maryland and Pennsylvania retirement living communities, including Country Meadows, have been tirelessly working on how to give the best and most reliable care to residents during this fragile time. Thanks to our compassionate co-workers and our executive team members' dedication, several of our campuses are ready to bring some normalcy back to our senior independent living campuses.
Now under the third generation of family ownership and management, Country Meadows has consistently strived for one goal: caring for others.
