Check out the recently completed Ted R. Smith Tactical Training Facility for Law Enforcement in Birchwood, Alaska! DOWL provided civil, structural, survey, geotechnical, and land use planning services to the Municipality of Anchorage on this facility, which includes firing ranges, shelter canopies, and an administration and classroom building for use by all law enforcement agencies in the area. Anchorage Civil Engineer Brad Doggett, PE, LEED AP, attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony and dedication last week, along with Anchorage Mayor Ethan Berkowitz and the family of Ted Smith, the long-time Anchorage Police Department training director for whom the facility is named.
A year ago, DOWL launched a “Shout Out” program where coworkers and supervisors nominate DOWL employees for recognition for a job well done. Since that time, there have been nearly 100 Shout Outs to employees. We appreciate the hard work and dedication our staff puts in to make projects go smoothly. #PeopleWhoMakeItHappen #DOWL
We LOVE it when superstar employees join our ranks for a second time. Welcome back LaQuita Chmielowski who started back at DOWL this week as a senior land use planning manager and Lesley Anderson who has been back at the firm for six months as a human resources technician. We hope you like your “welcome back-scratchers.”
Congratulations to DOWL’s client the State of Alaska Department of Natural Resources (DNR) on the recent recognition of their Healy Hydraulic Pit project! The US Department of the Interior’s Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and Enforcement will present DNR with the Abandoned Mine Land Reclamation Western Region Award for their work to reclaim the abandoned coal mine by regrading, revegetating, and improving water quality. We are proud of our DNR friends, Roger Allely and Justin Ireys, this important work, and the opportunity for DOWL to play a role in its success! #winning #DOWLclientsarethebestclients #miningreclamation http://glassdoor.com/slink.htm?key=vQQSt

DOWL’s Billings office was treated to admission and lunch at the Montana Fair last week. About 20 staff members participated in the annual Lunch Bunch team meeting, and got to enjoy the sights, smells, and tasty treats the fair has to offer. It was a fun break in the day for this group of hard-working individuals!
Join DOWL’s Leyla Arsan as she helps provide insight into how to navigate the newest environmental regulations during the 2018 Accelerate Alaska conference. http://glassdoor.com/slink.htm?key=vQIU2
