DOWL was in the Daily Journal of Commerce this week! "In downtown Beaverton, at the corner of Southwest Millikan Way and Rose Biggi Avenue, a nearly half acre of land that formerly served as an informal parking area is becoming the home of a new food and entertainment attraction. The BG Food Cartel, located near Beaverton City Hall and The Round, will feature 31 food carts, a covered outdoor dining area and an indoor beer and wine bar able to accommodate live music performances. The idea for a public space anchored by food carts has long been floated by city officials. The Biggi family, which owns the property being developed, teamed with WALEN Construction (formerly LCD) and Scott | Edwards Architecture to develop a proposal for the food cartel concept, which won a city-sponsored contest. […] In addition to WALEN Construction and Scott | Edwards Architecture, the project team includes DOWL, whose involvement was led by Jeff Shoemaker as senior project manager. Eric Wenzel served as project lead for Scott | Edwards. "
Happy holidays from DOWL! Enjoy our season greetings video! http://glassdoor.com/slink.htm?key=vQ2tI
What do you do when your client is headed to DC to try and secure funding for an important Alaska village relocation project and needs something to share with the powers that be? You crank it out, of course! Our clients on the Newtok Village Relocation project are traveling to the capital this week seeking additional funding to help move Newtok to a new location nine miles away. They needed a short, appealing document to bring with them to tell the story of the village's destruction by erosion, what's been done so far to move the village to a more stable location, and what needs to happen next. On short notice and with help from our talented graphic designer Soha Qadir and marketer Tiffany Casey, Denise Michels, Adison Spafford, Christopher Harrington, and Kendall Gee put together a compelling product. Adison and Monica Bradbury sat down with the client Saturday morning to fine-tune the details. Then Adison and Eric Voorhees got a crash course in production so we could send 40 copies with them on the plane. You all are great examples of what it means to work at DOWL, teamwork!
Congratulations to Cody Salo, Kelly Kilpatrick, Naomi Hobbs, and Greg Gabel for their successful completion of DOWL's internal leadership development program! The program includes delivery of a project every session and we met three times each year for two years. They have done projects on DOWL U, Training, Newforma, and Electronic Forms all with the aim of improving DOWL's operations and saving project manager's time by helping them become more effective and efficient. A sincere thank you to Cody, Kelly, Naomi, and Greg. The hard work on your projects has provided great value and we're looking forward to seeing some of them in practice!
We know our Anchorage team matches this ranking! Work hard. Play hard. http://glassdoor.com/slink.htm?key=vQuPo
Scott Little has been the Field Project Representative for the Southeast Interceptor, Segments 2S&3 for the past 15 months. His skill set and awareness in the field have greatly contributed to the success of this project, both for the City and for DOWL. Time and time again, the City of Bend mentions how important clear and concise documentation is on their large federally funded projects and how Scott consistently provides this service. For his hard work, we gave Scott a Shout Out and a gift certificate. Thanks for all you do!
Excellent artistry on your CANstruction creation Team DOWL! The force is strong with this one. Jabba would be proud!
Customer Service Counts! Paul Pribyl received a spot bonus for some pretty amazing comments from a top client recently. While the positive feedback is always wonderful to hear, it cemented Paul's devoted work ethic and commitment to go above and beyond the job description to get a project done and keep the client happy! Excellent work, Paul, and thank you for all that you do!
As part of the DOWL awards program, Cody Salo, P.E. Helena Office Manager and a Transportation Engineering Manager, received the Transportation Charter award. Cody has been a member of the DOWL family for over three years and has made significant positive contributions in that time. Cody is a hands-on Project Manager and an excellent mentor. Cody is a current member of the Emerging Leader Initiation Training and Education (ELITE) leadership development program.
Rich Pribyl was recognized with a Shout Out today for his hard work and attention on several proposals over the past couple of months. The State of Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities Northern Region has been keeping DOWL’s marketing and Alaska transportation, environmental, geo-construction, and water practice areas very busy this year with RFP after RFP on multi-discipline projects for which DOWL is well positioned.
