Meet Robert Smith, our summer Controls Engineering Intern located at our Erlanger, KY office. Robert is attending Arizona State University for a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. His concentration in the program is signal processing and control systems. He was looking for an internship with the #1 material handling automation company to help contribute and learn what separates Daifuku Wynright from its competitors. "It's exciting to be a part of a forever-changing and growing technological development for the material handling world.", he said. To commemorate Asian-Pacific Heritage Month, we are sharing the story of our remarkable teammate. #AAPIHeritageMonth. Meet, Erik Tian responsible for the Accounting/Finance department. Born in Xian, China (home of Terracotta Warrior), Erik grew up in Sapporo, Japan, before immigrating to the U.S. "My biggest role models are my parents. Hoping to give us a better life, they immigrated to Japan then to the United States. They started as students and eventually worked their way into successful professionals. Growing up, I was amazed to see how much they sacrificed through honest and hard work to get me to where I am today. My goal is to provide my daughters with the same opportunity my parents gave me." When Erik joined Daifuku Wynright and gotten to know the leadership team, he realized how much they cared about D&I. Daifuku awarded number one by the Modern Materials Handling Magazine designation for the 8th consecutive year. We remain Number 1 on the “Top 20 System Suppliers” list with our financial report of more than $4.5 billion in revenues for 2020, which is a healthy 13% gain in revenue from last year. “While the cleanroom [semiconductor] sector is on a downward trend, sales of intralogistics systems for manufacturers and distributors remain robust, namely due to an increase in projects from the e-commerce and food logistics industry, which we are partly attributing to the increase in working from home brought on by the Covid-19 pandemic,” says Stuart Oliphant from Daifuku’s corporate communications department. “Further, a large automobile production line system project in North America, which became our largest ever, was also a key contributor.”

Maya S Rhodes is the Purchasing Administrator. Rhodes's story is our last one celebrating #womenshistorymonth2021, in which Women employees share stories and how they are making a difference at Daifuku Wynright. Throughout her career, Rhodes was recognized during National Mentoring Month for being a P.E.A.R.L.S. Club mentor. Each year she is assigned to mentor a 7th or 8th-grade young lady. "It's always been my goal to help students, especially those that come from the same background as me," Rhodes said. "I always advise them to take advantage of the resources that organizations like The P.E.A.R.L.S. Club & the National Coalition of 100 Black Women have to offer", Rhodes said.

Meet Amanda Cash-Nowak, Human Resources Business Partner at Daifuku Wynright. Her story is the third in a four-part series for #womenhistorymonth2021 that highlights trailblazing women at Daifuku Wynright. #DaifukuTeam Cash-Nowak supports over 350 employees throughout the US at our various offices and individuals working remotely. In less than 7 months of employment, she moved from a Talent Acquisition Specialist to a Human Resource Business Partner. “The company has grown exponentially since I joined which has been amazing; however, created challenges along the way which required me to adapt to changes as they arose,” she said. Prior to working at Daifuku Wynright, Cash-Nowak worked for ArcelorMittal Steel for over 13 years. Her focus was on Training and Development for the Sales and Marketing staff which employed 200 plus employees. In her current role, she supports organizational structure/design among various responsibilities for employees and management. Implementing and improving processes is part of her role as well.

Daifuku Wynright's Application Engineer Coordinator, Sarah Martin, encourages young ladies not to be intimidated by a well-dominated male industry. Martin has owned a family fun center throughout her career while working full-time and raising her four children. "My time at Daifuku Wynright only began in October 2020, but I have learned one thing that sets this company apart; the willingness to learn across the board. The Senior leadership listens to every level of involvement and strives to make changes that benefit the company's success and the Team. The diversity inclusion initiatives prove they not only care but are committed to making a difference. That's what sets Daifuku Wynright in a category of their own," she said. Martin wants to further her understanding of the materials handling business to help Daifuku Wynright continue to grow. Meet Daifuku Wynright’s Manufacturing Engineer, Gelareh Karbaschi. Karbaschi joined the company in 2019 as an intern. Later she was hired as a full-time employee upon her graduation. Karbaschi’s role is to apply Lean Six Sigma methodology and increase the capacity of Daifuku Wynright while supporting all the departments. Working in a male-dominated industry and originally from Iran, Karbaschi acknowledge the opportunity she had to study abroad and work in the US. Multicultural, Karbaschi lived in Spain and Germany before moving to the US. “Girls have to be able to envision themselves in a future career. Someone who looks like them may inspire them to pursue those goals,” she said. Karbaschi played a critical role in working with Daifuku’s SGA in 2020. Her team worked to improve the bottleneck. Today, Karbaschi’s goal is to continue with her never-give-up attitude, keep doing her best and work hard for continuous improvement in Daifuku Wynright. #DaifukuTeam
