Our John Robertson is giving a Lunch n’ Learn presentation to the Construction Specifications Institute (CSI) Chicago Chapter. Participants will learn about modular construction through the presentation of a case study for a new 25 story, 168 key hotel in mid-town Manhattan, the AC NoMad. Epstein was pleased to serve as the associate architect for the AC NoMad, which, when complete, will become the world’s largest modular hotel. Event details below; we hope to see you there!
We're excited to be exhibiting at this year's International Baking Industry Exposition (IBIE) at the Las Vegas Convention Center. Representing Epstein will be, Darrin McCormies, Randy Tharp and Jonathan Scales, PMP. Stop by Booth #7859 to pay them a visit and see how we have been designing, engineering and constructing bakeries for leading bake goods companies worldwide.
Construction continues on the new 2-story, 75,560-square-foot Peoples Gas Central Shop Field Service Center at 4207 W. 35th Place. As part of a joint venture with McKissack & McKissack and F.H. Paschen, we are pleased to be providing architect of record and civil engineering services for the Central Shop, which is similar to the Peoples Gas North Shop facility that Epstein has already designed. Read more from our Dave Hilty, PE, about the continued progress:
We had a blast at the CREW (Chicago Real Estate Executive Women) Chicago’s 2019 Annual Golf Outing! Epstein, who helped support the outing, joined architects, asset managers, attorneys, designers, developers, bankers, brokers, corporate executives and consultants for a gorgeous day of golf at the challenging Glen Club in Glenview. CREW Chicago's mission is to positively impact the commercial real estate industry by advancing the power and success of women.
Epstein had a blast taking on the Tough Mudder this year! Several of our employees decided to tackle the Half Tough Mudder, which features 13 rigorous obstacles over a 3-mile course. Congrats, Team Epstein, for completing this aptly named event!
We are pleased to announce that Eric Pawelek, PE, has been promoted to Epstein’s Director of MEP Engineering! Eric’s nearly 40-year career has been a blend of working for mechanical contractors and A/E or engineering firms. His experience spans a gambit of educational, food and pharmaceutical, government, healthcare, hospitality, industrial, office and multi-family residential and utility infrastructure facilities. Congratulations, Eric!
The Northern Lakeshore Trail Connectivity Plan aims to improve walking and bicycling connections between and among the five northern lakeshore communities of Zion, Winthrop Harbor, Beach Park, Waukegan, and North Chicago. Epstein is thrilled to be a part of the team for this endeavor. To learn more about the project, please click here: http://glassdoor.com/slink.htm?key=vM480
We were pleased to have a member of our staff participate in the Project Pipeline Summer Camp this year. Alexus Davis had the honor of chairing the Project Pipeline Committee for I-NOMA, the Illinois Chapter of the National Organization of Minority Architects. The initiative aims to increase diversity within the architecture/design profession; which is done through exposing students as young as 10 from under-served communities to what a career in architecture can look like. Check out Alexus' recap of the camp!
We are pleased to share that the Epstein-designed, engineered and constructed Prestage Foods of Iowa pork processing plant won Engineering News-Record's Best Manufacturing Plant of the Year. The nearly 700,000-square-foot facility is one of the most advanced food processing facilities in the world and is designed to process roughly 600 million pounds of pork annually. "This fall, the world’s tallest modular hotel—a 26-story, 360-foot-tall building that will be branded AC Hotel New York NoMad when it opens late next year—will start stacking prefabricated and prefurnished guestrooms for assembly in New York City." This is one of 50 projects that Marriott International, since launching its pilot modular initiative, has incorporated prefab guestrooms or bathrooms. We are thrilled to be partnered with Marriott, and serving as the Associate Architect for this exciting project. #modularconstruction
