Last week, Our Lady of the Lake Health and LSU School of Medicine - Baton Rouge hosted the annual Quality + Research Day. The event featured a keynote presentation by Ann L. Jennerich, MD, MS, ATSF, who spoke on “The Science of Palliative Care in the ICU: High Hopes, Mixed Results,” offering a critical, evidence-based perspective on advancements and future directions in ICU palliative care. The day continued with poster and oral presentations from local researchers, residents, and students, showcasing the important work happening at Our Lady of the Lake and across Baton Rouge. The event concluded with an awards ceremony recognizing excellence in research and innovation. Research remains a key pillar of Our Lady of the Lake Health, and partnerships with institutions like LSU help drive our mission to advance care through discovery and collaboration.
Last month, more than 900 leaders from across our organization gathered at the Louisiana State University PMAC for our Spring Leadership Assembly to learn, grow and connect. With the theme of Immersive Leadership, the event invited us to explore how engaging all five senses can strengthen how we lead, inspire and support our teams. From the powerful message of Erik Weihenmayer — the first blind person to summit Mt. Everest — to thought-provoking insights from Gallup representative, Jeremy Pietrocini and Poet Ali, the day left us reenergized and ready to lead with even greater intention. We're proud of the impact our leaders continue to make in the lives of those we serve.
Last week, our team across our ministries came together for the CommUNITY Walk in honor of Diversity Month. Whether walking side by side or connecting virtually, team members took time to share stories, listen, and build meaningful connections. This annual tradition reminds us that when we embrace each other’s experiences, we create a stronger, more inclusive workplace where everyone belongs.
