80% of our 2019 College Graduates from Noble Network of Charter Schools obtained a full-time job or enrolled in graduate school within six-months of their college graduation. Earlier this month, Constance Jones, the CEO of Noble Network of Charter Schools traveled to Las Vegas, Nevada with over 700 leaders of color to present as the keynote speaker for the Teach For America: School Leaders of Color conference. This year's theme focused on building Resilient Leadership: Moving Beyond Surviving to Thriving. Constance's keynote focused on themes such as self-care, picking your battles, staying resilient and establishing in the workplace that there shouldn't be two sets of rules for students and the children of those in leadership. As the kick-off for the conference, Constance's speech sparked conversation throughout the breakout sessions and inspired the audience.

As college acceptances are beginning to be sent to seniors across the country, Noble seniors have an impressive number of acceptances and scholarships. Among the hundreds of early acceptances: nine Noble seniors have received Questbridge Scholarships, nine have received Posse Scholarships, and one has received a Golden Door Scholarship. These are among the most prestigious and competitive scholarships available to high school seniors heading to college.

The 2019 School Quality Rating Policy (SQRP) placed Noble public charter high schools in 10 of the top 12 ranking slots, including four of the top five spots. Noble schools are public schools, open to any student in Chicago, they have no testing required for admission, and as with all CPS schools there is no tuition. Additionally, Noble serves diverse learners at higher rates than the district average.

The Diverse Leaders Fellowship (DLF) held its inaugural retreat last month. The event took place off-site in Oak Brook, Illinois, and included two days of community building, reflection, and exploring what it means to be a diverse leader. More than 40 people took part in the retreat, and participants included current fellows, mentors, Noble senior leaders, and external guests. In Chicago, students can elect to apply to selective enrollment schools by taking the selective enrollment exam and meeting other application requirements such as elementary school grades. In contrast, charter schools like Noble are free, non-profit public schools authorized and funded by the Chicago Public Schools district to operate with freedom to innovate in curriculum and staffing models among other areas. Noble high schools are open to all students in the city of Chicago who complete the 8th grade - there are no other admission requirements and students apply through the same GoCPS system as for all other CPS schools. Generally, Noble students enter high school with lower academic achievement records than the district average. Groundbreaking new research from MIT shows that students who attend Noble schools grow more academically than similar peers who attended elite, selective enrollment high schools.
