Congratulations to Emily Hamilton, our VP of Strategic Change, for being named in the LGBTQ+ Executives Outstanding Top 100 Role Models list by INvolve - The Inclusion People. Emily's leadership includes advocating for LGBTQ+ support within our organization, securing transgender health coverage, endometriosis coverage, and equal access to IVF for same-sex couples in the corporate health scheme. As a director of Trans in the City, Emily delivered inclusion talks to 160+ organizations, aiding in the development of transition and dignity at work policies. She also mentors senior executives undergoing transition. Emily founded and chairs QuinsPride, the first LGBTQ+ Rugby supporter’s association in the professional game, promoting inclusion in sports. Emily volunteers with Diversity Role Models to combat homophobic and transphobic bullying in schools. She received the 2023 Rainbow Honours Corporate LGBTQIA+ Champion award and was shortlisted at the 2023 British Diversity Awards. Emily told us: "Making workplaces more welcoming, inclusive and effective is what gives me purpose in coming to work each day, and just looking at the others listed here is pretty humbling, everyone here is serious about inclusion, and everything that goes with it." In honour of #BreastCancerAwarenessMonth, our remarkable colleague Mandeep from our Nuneaton DC, graciously shares her story with us. "Hello friends, my name is Mandeep, and I am a cancer survivor." "I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2008 at the age of 36, I found lump with a dip on the side of my breast. My GP referred me to the hospital for a biopsy and the effected part was removed. I had chemo and radiotherapy and medication for 10 years but unfortunately, after 7 years, in 2015 the cancer came back, and life became a roller coaster. I then had a mastectomy, chemo and medication for another 5 years." "A person needs love and care throughout this journey, there are so many side effects after the treatment. It is hard to see yourself without hair, eyebrows & eyelashes, but you can get a headscarf and once chemo finishes your hair grows back. Throughout treatment your immune system is so low, and you need to be very careful. Every person needs to do a self-examination. Any lump, hardness, dimple or discharge from the breast, and you need to contact your GP immediately." "I would like to thank my family, friends, colleagues, doctors and nurses for the love and care that helped me get back on my feet. Join us at our recent London Build event, where we joined forces with our social impact partners, The Washing Machine Project, to successfully assemble nine life-changing 'Divya 1.65 flat-pack' washing machines. 🙌 From this batch, five of these machines are set to be sent to Shangilia, a school dedicated to providing support for street children in Nairobi, Kenya. Additionally, three machines will be making their way to an orphanage in Mombasa, Kenya. Lastly, the remaining machine will be delivered to a women's empowerment group in Liberia, renowned for their incredible work in crafting reusable sanitary pads for women and girls within their community. #TheWashingMachineProject #Divya #LondonBuild #WeAreRS #MakingAmazingHappen #ForABetterWorld

We also ask our supplier partners to prioritise diversity and inclusion within their own businesses and sourcing programmes with their suppliers. As part of this commitment, we have established our first supplier diversity and inclusion programme within the RS Integrated Supply business in the US. We have chosen to start in the US as supplier diversity within procurement is already a mature and best practice approach there due to supporting regulation. It is also a high priority for our customers. Our aim is to provide opportunities to businesses that have historically been underrepresented in global supply chains by making it easier for them to partner with us. We’ve got some great news to share, as we have won the award for Best Company for Sustainability Reporting within the Industrials sector at the Corporate ESG Awards 2023. Awards categories were assessed by a panel of independent judges comprising of sustainability professionals in the financial markets, academics and independent experts. Andrea Barrett, our VP Social Responsibility and Sustainability said: ‘‘We were delighted to be nominated in two categories at the Corporate ESG Awards, alongside other leading listed organisations, and even more so to win best company for our sustainability reporting.
