If you ever drive through town with a builder, be prepared for a few stops. It’s not unusual for us to take the “long way” to our destination, just to pull into the parking lot of a hospital, hotel, school, office building, or other structure to say, “I built this.” In that moment, “I built this” is more than a statement: It’s an affirmation. Those three words reflect more than satisfaction in constructing a building. They express pride in building a career that matters. October is Careers in Construction Month, and Robins & Morton will be sharing stories that show the complexity of the structures we build and reveal the character and depth of the people who build them. Follow our page and hashtags #IBuiltThis and #BehindTheBuilder as we work to raise awareness about the countless opportunities available through careers in construction.

We had an exciting time participating in the National Association of Minority Contractors (NAMC) National Conference in Arlington, Texas. Our team joined a panel to discuss how Lean culture empowers minority contractors in construction. We also enjoyed visiting with attendees at our exhibit booth. Robins & Morton is a proud corporate member of NAMC, and we look forward to next year's event!

We hosted our inaugural Robins & Morton Raleigh Open golf tournament, and it was a memorable day for all involved! Our team welcomed 240 participants, including client, contractor, and vendor partners, and we raised $40,000 for charity. All proceeds will benefit the American Heart Association and Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Triangle. The tournament was followed by an awards ceremony, where the winners were recognized. We would like to offer a special thank you to all of our sponsors who made this event possible, especially our title sponsors: ERS Construction Products, Starr Electric Company, Inc., New England Tech Air Inc, and Adams Electric Company. We can't wait for next year's tournament!

Several of our team members participated in the Girl Scouts of North-Central Alabama's Annual Leadership Summit. While in the "Hall of Experiences," where students in grades 4-12 could interact with professionals in various industries, our team discussed careers in construction with more than 300 participants. Our team demonstrated the use of virtual reality in construction and shared the elements of building. Students each received a hardhat and custom Girl Scouts patch-style hardhat sticker. We're excited about the future of these #WomenInConstruction! #GivingWithPurpose
