Roush's focus on technical excellence starts at the top. "I have a lifelong commitment to learning, and I’ve come full circle, from receiving my master’s degree in scientific mathematics at Eastern Michigan University to founding and chairing a company so heavily committed to technical excellence,” said Jack Roush. "One of the challenges for young people coming of age in our time is marrying a strong academic background with practical experience. EMU's GameAbove College of Engineering and Technology program’s hardware labs, focused on solving real world problems, meet that challenge."
At Roush, we are nimble and agile, able to work alongside our clients to co-imagine, co-create, and collectively celebrate success. Apply now:
Flashback Friday: 1971 – Jack teamed up with fellow Ford engineer Wayne Gapp in a partnership that would become known as Gapp & Roush Performance. The duo went on to win 3 National championships in AHRA, NHRA, and IHRA Pro Stock drag racing over the next five years, and their engine-building, parts and tuning business filled a niche opened when Ford Motor Company ended factory support for drag racing late in 1970. Though most of their success happened in Pro Stock racing, the duo’s first national event win came in a 1969 Mustang convertible with a 428 Cobra Jet engine prepped to run Super Stock, at the 1971 NHRA U.S. Nationals at Indianapolis, Jack Roush drove the car to a class win in SS/HA. The car, which had taken advantage of a weight break afforded convertibles, was built to be sold, and after the U.S. Nationals win it was, with the profits being used to help expand the burgeoning parts and tuning business.
At Roush, you are a part of building the future and because “People Power Roush”, we are committed to empowering our employees to reach their full potential by offering our team members personalized opportunities for growth and development.
Throwback Thursday: Jack Roush has an impressive collection of vintage and high performance vehicles and the best seat in the house atop the pit box at NASCAR tracks across the country. But Jack's idea of the perfect day? "When I would load my plane with gas and fly nonstop to the West Coast." The perfect blend of speed, technology, and peaceful quiet.
Recognizing the strength, wisdom and limitless capabilities of women is a part of our DNA at Roush. Our founder, Jack Roush, attributes his work ethic, reverence for education, and entrepreneurial spirit to his mother, Georgetta. Georgetta Roush was a great fan of racing and was the designated owner for the No. 97 Nextel Cup entry from 1998 through 2005, including 2004, when the team won their first Nextel Cup championship. She was also the designated owner of the No. 26 Cup entry in 2006 and the No. 99 Cup entry in 2007. Today, women hold key positions at every level of Roush, and we are especially proud of our efforts to encourage and support women seeking STEM careers. #InternationalWomensday #TeamRoush
