May is Safety month! Building a brighter future means taking the proper safety precautions in our offices and on every project site. What we do within our organization is so important, but the true importance is who we see when we hang up our hardhats at the end of each day. This is why we work safe work smart!
This March, our Community Relations team traveled to the Navajo Nation to continue our Skip the Grid project, a partnership with the Heart of America Foundation and California Polytechnic State University (Cal Poly). Working with community leaders and staff at the Red Mesa School District to identify families without transmitted power, Skip the Grid project partners installed solar powered systems that provide clean electricity, battery storage, and light in over 30 Navajo homes.
Solar projects, like Mammoth North in Indiana, are creating ripple effects in the surrounding communities. R.J. Howard, the owner of local catering company Maggie Lu's Market, shares how his business is benefiting from the nearby project, and his hopes that others will embrace the opportunities utility-scale solar projects bring to communities, too.
Creating a brighter future doesn’t end with our projects. In celebration of Volunteer Recognition Day, we would like to thank our employees who strive to produce nothing but Good Energy into the communities we work and live in! Through our employee volunteer efforts with our partners at Feeding San Diego, Heart of America, Generation STEAM, NEIGHBORIMPACT, Inter-Faith Food Shuttle, Inspire Academy at CHAMBERS COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT and so many others, we are able to work towards our mission for making a positive difference wherever we go through community projects that generate good energy for people and the planet.
Last week, we kicked off our partnership with the Solarplaza Asset Management North America conference with a pre-conference office tour at our San Diego headquarters. This tour welcomed over 40 industry leaders and offered the opportunity to join our SOLV Energy Team for a unique tour to view our Operations and Control Center (OCC), learn about our portfolio of renewable energy services, hear Government Affairs strategies and updates, sustainable projects, commitment to DEI and to building brighter communities for all.

April is Celebrate Diversity Month and our Resolve DEI Council are leading the charge! Along with the support of our executive team, the mission of this employee-led council will serve to take action to build a more diverse, equitable and inclusive culture within our organization. We recognize the value each person brings to our rapidly growing team and will continue to support our already diverse and unique company culture through the celebration of diversity, equity and inclusion.
SOLV Energy believes that renewable energy plays a vital role in creating a brighter future, and that every person can make a difference in their quest for a more sustainable planet. We’re committed to protecting our environment and motivating others to take action by providing learning activities, expanded access to educational resources and, for the first time, a scholarship program for high school students pursuing degrees in renewable energy and climate. The PowerUp! Renewable Energy Scholarship will award $1,500 to six high school seniors in the U.S. This nationwide opportunity helps us extend the reach of our STEAM education initiatives beyond the areas immediately surrounding our offices and projects. All applications received will be reviewed by a diverse board of employees from SOLV Energy and SEI.

We are pleased to announce that renovations on the new SOLV Energy Bend office are complete! On Wednesday, March 8th, members of SOLV Energy leadership joined our Bend team and their families at an open house celebrating the space and our brighter future in the Pacific Northwest. SOLV Energy's Bend office is home base for our technology-focused teams, including Corporate IT, SCADA and the development teams behind our proprietary Sunscreen and Vitals applications. Previously located in downtown Bend, the move to accommodate a growing team provided the opportunity for custom workspaces that best suit the specific roles of the SOLV Energy team members working there. The new office sits above the Deschutes River, offering sweeping views of the waterway and adjacent Mill District. The 8,000 square foot space includes 41 work stations, a large conference room and a work lab uniquely designed for SCADA research and development. The office layout provides a more collaborative work environment to inspire more innovative tech solutions to support our EPC and O&M projects.
