Boston was the center of the eCommerce universe last week, as over 1,500 attendees from over 400 retail brands gathered there for the annual eTail Boston conference from August 19 - 22. Sharon M. Leite, CEO of The Vitamin Shoppe, was one of six keynote speakers at the summit. Sharon’s presentation provided insight into The Vitamin Shoppe’s ongoing reinvention plan – and how the customer is at the center of that strategy. “Today we are transforming The Vitamin Shoppe to be a customer-first, sales-driving, agile organization that is innovative and executes with excellence. We are challenging and transforming everything we do. We are cleaning up our inventory, we’ve significantly reduced our debt, and we are pruning the unproductive aspects of our business. Speed to market and leveraging technology to drive competitive advantages will be critical in turning our business around and returning The Vitamin Shoppe to growth,” she noted.

The IT team hosted an enormously successful "Geek Trivia" at the office on August 15th, welcoming teams like: Les Quizerables Stars & Stripes Smells like Team Spirit A Girl Has No Name Technical Mercenaries John Trivialta Kastin's Krew In the end there was a close call and three way stand off, but "Smells like Team Spirit" stole the lead. Who would have thought that the Human Resources team at The Vitamin Shoppe would win the "GEEK TRIVIA" game!
It's "Back to School" season in Arizona, and the Avondale Distribution Center's Health Enthusiasts have been busy preparing their families to return to school--or rather preparing themselves to endure the traffic that comes with schools being back in session! The Avondale DC planned a back to school themed spirit day and invited the Health Enthusiasts to wear their most studious (nerdy) attire to work.

The Ashland Distribution Center hosted a delicious Milestone Luncheon for Health Enthusiasts who were celebrating 5 years of tenure or more. The Health Enthusiasts had a great time with General Manager Tim Metzgar and Human Resources Manager Mary Jo Palumbo, PHR. Congratulations to the Health Enthusiasts for celebrating 5 year to 15 year anniversaries!
The Creative & Content and Customer Engagement Teams held a multi-cultural potluck to celebrate the diversity of a great team, through a fantastic mix of food! Everyone brought in treats and signature dishes from the country they originated from. Some highlights included rice & beans, banana bread, blintzes, banoffee pie, Romanian food, and empanadas. …and some say Mondays are awful. Not at The Vitamin Shoppe!

Last week the Avondale, Arizona Distribution Center celebrated summer with a Hawaiian themed event! Our Health Enthusiasts wore floral attire, played a few rounds of Hawaiian themed bingo, and most importantly enjoyed some delicious and refreshing Hawaiian shaved ice! We are very grateful for everything our Health Enthusiasts do and hope they enjoyed this fun-filled day!
