Pros

The product is reliable and I stand strong behind it

Cons

The management focuses more on ‘failure’ and less on accomplishments. Most of the sales are 100% self-generated. High turnover makes team work difficult. Product prices, install, and monthly terms are higher than all competitors even those with the same exact product. The company itself over promises and under delivers to their employees and customers. They care more about making the sale and increasing revenue than taking quality care of current customers which makes keeping the customer 100% reliant on you. Sales reps are expected to do tend to these customers for free and will RARELY assist in keeping the customer satisfied. Management all the way up to the higher tiers are really totalitarian and the effects trickle all the way down. Monthly cost for customers is supposed to cover repairs of equipment too but they almost always find a way to charge the customer $75 or more for servicing even though the higher monthly cost claims to cover that. Stocks are way down with this company and the stress of that is felt company wide. Sales can be stressful at times but is also incredibly rewarding. I’ve been in sales for 11 years and initially was so excited to start working for ADT but I’ve tried to stick it out with them in hopes it’d get better and become the environment I was promised upon hiring but it’s only gotten worse and this has been the most stressful and time/energy consuming company I have ever been with.

Pros

Realistically, the best reasons to work for ADT is a pay check and benefits. You can get those things at many other jobs so maybe it is just a reason and not the best one. That is the only "pro" I can think of.

Cons

Easily shared. Terrible communication from top down and the leadership team trash talks everyone behind their backs. I cant say how many calls I was on where leaders talked trash about another person not on the call, very tacky. Many of the Managers and especially the higher ups, have no idea what the job entails. They like to tell everyone to set the example but absolutely cannot do it themselves. Everyone who works here is on pins and needles all the time and constantly looking for new jobs. The company thinks that people are good and happy because they are quite. They couldn't be more wrong. My Manager used to tell us how their leaders were so terrible and that the only reason she stayed was for us. This is a common theme. Human Resources should be called the gossip club because that is all they do. I also heard my Manager talk about how they often see HR drinking heavily and out of order during company events. They cannot keep any great leaders employed because frankly, those leaders are too smart to work at ADT and the upper leadership teams are threatened because they get challenged. I have seen 2 of the best leaders I have ever worked for get fired or laid off, these leaders literally kept people happy here. That is like firing the person that picks and cares for your strawberries and wondering why your strawberry yields are still so low. This is ADT. Worklife balance is a joke - this place has mandatory OT and they usually communicate it last minute and then you get written up if its missed. So much for planning your life right. The good leaders always apologize for the lack planning by executive leaders. They ask for mandatory OT because they cant keep people at work and don't want to figure out why. This was one of the only places I worked where you couldn't even get your hands on the product that we were troubleshooting. You are told to trust your tools, but when its wrong or when it takes you longer than needed, you get in trouble.

Pros

The work is good. the people are good.

Cons

The corporate policy of not complying with workers compensation laws is CRIMINAL. ADT uses its self-insured status to avoid paying workers compensation benefits. Instead it fires its injured workers. ADT hires lawyers to just keep appealing the decisions against them that are made by the Illinois Workers Compensation Commission and other government agencies that protect American employees
