Pros

Company sets appointments for you. Don't have to be in an office all day like other jobs. There are sales contest to win extra money and gifts.

Cons

They have a big emphasis on SGL's (Self Generated Leads) but that is tough to do when you are sent 3 company appointments/day. You have to work Saturdays and it's not just a half day. There is at least one call night a week where you are in the office and have to make so many calls and get so many appointments set. They are very focused on your sales pitch but that does no good when they don't teach you about product.

Pros

The atmosphere with co-workers was great. Selling the industrial standard in the security market. Strong advertising for the products marketed.

Cons

Major management issues at our office. Three of the four managers were let go in the period between my hire and starting on the job a couple of weeks later after all of the background checks were performed. There seems to be a culture of never talking to management that is more than one step above. It took nearly 7 weeks to get into their IT system and actually be able to make sales. In the meantime, I was furiously burning gas participating in their sales "exercises". BTW, if you have a sales background, don't expect to be able to use things you've learned in the past. The regimen for sales is very micromanaged. And the quick start training which was supposed to occur in the 4th week didn't take place to the 9th week. And for residential sales, be prepared to by a bunch of door to door sales licenses to be able to do your job. There is more but I'll leave it at that.

Pros

Generally competent mid tier workforce, some nice amenities (only in corporate headquarters).

Cons

Pay scale - 30-40% lower than market standards. Hires from outside instead of promoting from within. Internal promotions non existent. Employee retention is almost as bad as customer retention, attrition is the highest I have seen. Work life balance is nonexistent, 60+ hour weeks are commonplace. Weak management that is not held accountable when they miss the mark. Over utilization and dependency on contract employees and agencies.
