Company as a whole is great- some leadership issues

Pros

Some good tech hires who became good and genuine friends outside of work. Christmas do Chance to progress, if your manager thinks your face fits

Cons

Hiring in recent years has seen a change in culture in Tech Services, resulting in a high turnover of staff. I was happy in this role until new senior management came in and hired some friends. I was then subjected to sexist comments, forced to work outside of my working hours (because it'll look good if I became a senior member of staff), and actually shouted at as an adult woman. I finished work in tears more than I care to admit.

AJ Bell Slippery Slope

Pros

Bupa. Good pension contribution. Drinks.

Cons

Unfortunately AJ Bell has taken a significant downturn since management enforced a strict half time [50%] return-to-office policy. Employee morale has plummeted, productivity has declined and top talent is leaving for more flexible opportunities. The decision to ignore employees preference for remote work has alienated us. This lapse in leadership will prove costly as the company is unwilling to adapt to modern work trends.

Pros

Endless amounts of training on AJ Bell products and staff discount on Youinvest services allowed me to consolidate many old workplace pensions and get a better deal.

Cons

Pathological command and control culture. Managers completely detached from reality. Aggressive senior member of staff using obscene language at daily stand up to describe other staff members and teams. Manager behaving in misogynistic fashion making inappropriate comments to female members of staff and ignoring toxic behaviour within the team. Passive aggressive HR department "We use a Bradford scoring system, so don't ever get sick". Bombarding everyone with pointless, endless mandatory training courses. Ancient tech stack, rotten code base, irrational resistance to refactoring, changing or upgrading existing code.
