Pros

People and culture Drivable or transit accessible Office design/work environment Everyone takes lunch at the same time allowing which allows everyone to bond a bit more. Installation of Video Games on PC is acceptable to play on your lunch etc.

Cons

Upper management seems to keep secrets although they speak of transparency Communication between departments lacking but mostly from upper management to lower management there is a huge breakdown there and is probably the only cause of tension in the work place.

Pros

There are a couple of very intelligent senior developers in the team from whom I have learned a lot - they are good mentors and doesn't hesitate to share their knowledge with the rest.

Cons

The development team is structured in a way that developers (or quality assurance analysts) do not have much say about design, processes, and work flow. Everything is decided by one or two people higher up and enforced through business analysts. Your ideas and suggestions as a developer doesn't matter. So Absorb is not a fit if you are looking for a place where you can be innovative, think critically, and work in a collaborative manner. However, it is an ok place if you are willing to do as told without daring to question it. Scrum process was introduced this year in the development team which was supposed to help all team members work collaboratively. Unfortunately the new processes are not really followed. The business analysts still decide everything, dismisses and/or mocks other team members' ideas when feeling insecure. They are not willing to give up any control as part of new process and will do anything to push out critical thinkers and label them as not being team players. All of this has created a very tense and toxic work environment.

Good culture and some great people but some are too resistive to change

Pros

- Great work culture and atmosphere - Very intelligent people to learn from - Generally a very pleasant place to work - Average Compensation

Cons

There are some very controlling long tenure leads/middle management who seem to be so afraid of losing control as the result of new development processes introduced. This causes progress to be seriously inhibited. This has generated somewhat of a toxic and frustrating work environment as of late. Emotions run high and so does reversion of the status quo.

Absorb Software Response

Thank you for reviewing Absorb Software. We are very pleased that you enjoy the work culture and atmosphere and agree that there are some very intelligent people at Absorb. Our new development process are being lead from the top down and we have made serious investments in training and implementing these changes which you have undoubtedly seen. As they have been only implemented for a few weeks they will take time to become the new norm for everyone. By ensuring that progress is controlled, we can then be sure that development continues without undue setbacks. With that being said, new processes are there for a reason, so we will work to ensure there is a proper balance of caution and enthusiasm. Thank you for taking the time to let us know your thoughts.
