Pros

The people are amazing. I've been in many groups and I love the people at this company. They're warm, funny, smart, and always willing to help. The technology stack is modern and management is willing to devote a lot of time to getting thing right technically. There's always something new to learn and a lot of smart people to learn from. Management is great. They all have an open door policy and are very approachable. They strike a good balance between doing what's best for the company, the employees, and future-proofing the technology. And the events throughout the year are great fun. They just implemented a policy so you can work one day from home per week. They're always trying new things to make life better for everyone.

Cons

The company's grown a lot recently, so you no longer know everyone in the company and there is a bit more process than there used to be. I think that's inevitable as a company grows, though.

Pros

There are a couple of very intelligent senior developers in the team from whom I have learned a lot - they are good mentors and doesn't hesitate to share their knowledge with the rest.

Cons

The development team is structured in a way that developers (or quality assurance analysts) do not have much say about design, processes, and work flow. Everything is decided by one or two people higher up and enforced through business analysts. Your ideas and suggestions as a developer doesn't matter. So Absorb is not a fit if you are looking for a place where you can be innovative, think critically, and work in a collaborative manner. However, it is an ok place if you are willing to do as told without daring to question it. Scrum process was introduced this year in the development team which was supposed to help all team members work collaboratively. Unfortunately the new processes are not really followed. The business analysts still decide everything, dismisses and/or mocks other team members' ideas when feeling insecure. They are not willing to give up any control as part of new process and will do anything to push out critical thinkers and label them as not being team players. All of this has created a very tense and toxic work environment.

Pros

Great team, who are willing to learn and develop their understanding of application design and development. Our bosses are easygoing and approachable, and are always willing to listen to concerns and new directions of thought. Growing fast and it's exciting to see.

Cons

Support of legacy software can be a distraction from completing new development, but I know this is temporary. Games room only seats 8.
