Pros

The staff who existed prior to Accentcare takeover of Fairview Home Care and Hospice have strong work ethic and a passion for providing excellent patient care.

Cons

Workload far exceeds what can be accomplished in a 40 hour week(prepare to work 60 plus hours in this role and still not meet expectations; forget having lunch, going to the bathroom, or even leaving your chair during your 10 plus hour day); lack of training; lack of support; lack of flexibility with a very traditional work environment. With this job there is zero work/life balance and an extremely stressful, unfulfilling environment. Upper management’s focus is on making money rather than quality patient care and supporting its employees. There is a high turnover rate increasing the burnout for those who remain.

Pros

Great immediate team; our team director was wonderful and advocated for her staff tirelessly. When she was let go, it was clear there was absolutely no one on our side.

Cons

No work life balance. My day would start around 8am, and most days I would get home around 6pm. I would eat dinner (ravenously, as I never had time to eat during my days; I lost a significant amount of weight in this role as I never had time to care for myself), spend maybe 30 total minutes eating and visiting with my husband before heading up to my home office to chart until 10pm, 11pm at night. The charting system is disgustingly redundant. Supplies were sent to patients who'd died and some patients never got the proper supply orders the nurses would put in (nothing like having to field calls from upset family members that they cannot even obtain proper sized diapers for their loved one). The patient care was what kept me there; I loved the work, loved my patients, and felt I was a good hospice nurse. The CNAs I worked with were wonderful as well as our chaplain and social workers. Truly, it was the charting that was killing us; multiple members of my team left within a one month period due to the stressors of being a salaried employee at 40 hours, yet being expected to have our work completed, most weeks having to work 60-70 hours with no additional pay. I would avoid Seasons at all costs; there are many other hospice companies in the area.

House of horrors

Pros

COVID temporary work from home. (Not actually the company doing).

Cons

Low low low pay. No bonuses. No raises. No work life balance. Expensive health insurance. Toxic work environment. Petty coworkers. No upper management. (We had in less than a year a regional director and branch director leave. Not to mention field supervisors and 3 case managers who were gone.) No support from the higher ups, and constant branch restructuring. Its not a stable or hospitible work environment. And beware, you'll burn out of your position quick.
