Terrible Company

Pros

Free soda and coffee Hip environment with beanbag chairs, meeting spaces in a high rise. Smart and good people to work with (for now)

Cons

Bad place. Don't get duped by surroundings and recruiter sales pitches of what Active is or aspires to be. It's not true. They want warm bodies who are seduced by a cool environment and slick sales pitch. Recruiters misrepresent the position and the company. Not sure if it's deliberate but it definitely feels as such. No real strategy for achieving results. Just pressure. No work/life balance. You will work 70 hour weeks or leave at end of day knowing you will be reprimanded or fired. Management uses fear as it's method to motivate. Quotas are not attainable. Maybe 25% of reps are going to hit quota. This is after they lowered quota from Q4. Very political culture where you need to watch what you say and who you say it to. CEO's negatives outweigh his positives. Normally who CEO is doesn't matter, but he hovers at all levels and watches over everyone as they work. Everything you do is being watched. This is unfortunate because CEO is talented and his vision for future product offerings is compelling. Training is great while you are in it for weeks until you hit the sales floor and realize how woefully prepared you were. All levels of sales management are good people, but lacking in strategy. Sadly, they may be unqualified for their positions even though they are talented salespeople. Beyond all of this, the books are being cooked from the top level down to the bottom. The numbers are not real. Not sure what the endgame of all this is but something will have to give eventually. Would not be surprised to walkin one day and realize it was all a house of cards, closing up shop.

Pros

The side benefits of Promotive and ActiveGear (good deals on athletic gear, movie tickets and cruises) The Dallas office has an ice cream machine and free drinks Free bagels on Friday morning Some of the technology used is good (lots of Macs) There are great colleagues that care about the work and the clients Pay (NOT benefits) seemed "ok". But I heard they are lowering salaries.

Cons

The company has no "five-year" plan and in the year I've been here there has only been ONE email from the executives. Also, it is common to get yelled out. I haven't been yelled at yet, but I've literally seen leadership at all levels tell people they are F'ing worthless in front of everyone. Cussing and degrading seems to actually be encouraged from the top down. I'm not kidding... Three lay-offs in past year. They also just shutdown the Nashville and Jefferson City offices They DO NOT let you work from home because they are getting a tax break from Dallas that requires people to work at site THIS IS IMPORTANT: The health plan is HORRIBLE and the literature during recruitment is misleading. For a family, it is a 4K deductible. I repeat, $4,000. They offer three different health plans for your pets, but only ONE for you. If you aren't in your 20s and invincible, think long and hard about this. No leadership from top and high turnover. This causes a knowledge management issue. Owned by an investment company and the layoffs look like they are going to chop it up

Pros

Nice looking downtown space. Free coffee, soda, and ice cream. Oh and they have a bike purchase program through Active X.

Cons

Upper management doesn't care one bit about the employees. They change the comp plan just about every quarter and it's never in the employees' favor.
