Pros

Decent pay and free lunch

Cons

poor employee appreciation, poor benefits, poor leadership, the hospital is very old and dingy. It is terrifying the number of mistakes that occur in this hospital and no one is held accountable.

Pros

There are a handful of nurses that truly excel in their work, their care, and relationships with patients and others. It is a shame that they work in what seems to be a toxic environment.

Cons

This truly is a horrendous place to work. The administration is clearly a top down problem. Each department is flawed in structure and support, and it is seen all the way to the top. Leadership should revolve around strong people who motivate others through example and true integrity. This is severely lacking at this hospital. -Morre Dean is worthless. As the CEO I have seen him on snapchat during meetings, ignoring colleagues in meetings, in the hallways, and functions, as he feels too important, and smugly acts like he's in charge. He clearly demonstrates with his actions that he has no true desire to lead well. -Patricia Howell the CMO makes light of everything and ignores real issues. Not trustworthy and also doesn't seem to be knowledgeable about actual medical issues. Both of these "leaders", as well as several others, shrug accountability, fail to address real problems, and are the cause of the demise of this crumbling hospital. This place has a magnet designation, which should certainly be re-reviewed. This place is a joke. The PTO system is flawed. They claim you get 2 weeks a year, but national holidays you are FORCED not to work, but they take your vacation time for it. Leaving you with few personal or vacation days.

Pros

Porter has a very good staff of clinicians who are dedicated to patient care.

Cons

The leadership at Porter is some of the worst in the health care industry. Nepotistic, unqualified and unfocused, the "leaders" are too busy working on personal projects that have no positive return than on things that can make a difference. The organization suffers as a result. Jobs are also never filled when someone leaves, instead responsibilities are shoveled onto other's already full plates.
