Aimbridge buys smaller companies and strip them for parts.
Aimbridge is hick company from Podunk TX and their "culture" reflects that lack of sophistication. They eliminate any duplication of roles with their crack teams of Choice Hotel Operators. Salaries are based on what you would make in Hicksville TX, even though your hotel was in NYC, LA, DC or some other civilized location.
They are in the process of going public, 3 years and counting. They assimilate new companies and hotels without a thought for increasing the support infrastructure and staffing. There was no such thing as Corporate Support. Because the pay scale was well below market, unless you were located in Plano TX, it was impossible to hire and retain any talent. We ended up with the chronically unemployable over and over again. That did not raise a concern to anyone, ever. That level of turnover would alarm any truly professional organization.
We begged for Operational Support and what we got was lip service as to what we should be doing, no support in overcoming the Operational deficiencies. We could not clean rooms, check people into rooms correctly or provide basic levels of customer service. Aimbridge is danger of losing preferred status with Marriott because they cannot run hotels out of the GSS Red Zone. They turn that back onto the hotel and blame the GM or whatever passes as Operational Leaders.
My favorite sin of omission: No on-boarding of any kind. You got thrown in the deep end with Corporates heartfelt good wishes. A tremendous amount of reporting, in multiple forms and very little of it was automated. No requirements that Ownership Groups have technology from this century. We used a Sales System that was developed in mid 80's.
