Pros

ICI Paints has a ton of potential but has in the past squandered it. Pervioulsy they failed to listen to what customers want and instead have told customers what they should want. They have undergone what appears to be reorganization after reogranization. They should pick a strategy and follow it. Good

Cons

Pervioulsy they failed to listen to what customers want and instead have told customers what they should want. THere is very litte opportunity to move up as the organization is very flat and individuals have been in their roles for many years and are unlikely to leave anytime soon.

Pros

Akzo has wonderful people at my location and the workday is laid back and not stressful. The location itself is pretty nice, and there are alot of little conveniences that go along with working here such as a reduced price for gym membership nearby and decent on site dining facilities.

Cons

The work is easy and not stressful to the point of it sometimes getting boring even when it is not repetitive. The repetitive parts are extremely boring and sometimes seem unnecessary.

Pros

Excellent benefits, bragging rights that you work for the largest coatings company on the planet (which helps if you are a salesperson), very good compensation (you must do your homework on the way in and negotiate), company car & gas card with no limits to personal use (though there is a fee now of $150 per pay period or every 2 weeks pre-tax), work load is not too strenuous. Products are the best in the industry, and assortment is easy to sell because of well known brands such as Glidden & Flood. I really do love my job (and the company) and really hope to retire from here. There are many people whom have the same goals and values as I do.

Cons

Senior brass feels incompetent and has [what appears to be] ever changing power tactics. They don't know whether to use a carrot and a stick, or simply beat you with the stick. Sometimes they do both. You work for a "sales based organization" but [it feels] the lowest ranked person in the minds of corporate headquarters IS the salesperson. If the company spent as much time and money advertising and selling as it does attempting to keep the salespeople busy with new computer tracking (micromanaging) tools--it might be successful and outsell its competitors in highly competitive regions. Again, there is little to NO advertising. This is demoralizing for the INTERNAL people at ICI Paints, not just good for earning business from external customers.
