Pros

If you're in upper management, you're making money. Top brass always gets their cash. If you live in India, you'll probably be very successful. Other than that, the only Pros are: Better than digging ditches. Get to work indoors. Not active combat. No risk of being attacked by wildlife.

Cons

Look through these "reviews", the only positive ones come from employees in India. During the last few years, Allscripts has cut benefits and compensation meanwhile, they're sending more and more jobs to India. There have been constant changes in management and everyone wants to be the boss but, no-one wants to take responsibility. Employee training is awful an no-one cares because they can use that as an excuse not to promote or compensate employees.

Pros

Good benefits, work from home, decent pay, nice coworkers.

Cons

Too many mergers, docking employee pay to better company bottom line, company is in it for the money and not the greater good of healthcare, knowingly lets clients suffer due to managerial/employee inefficiency, neglects employee work needs (which, again, contributes to less than satisfactory customer service), refuses to hire new employees within the USA (as well as laying off employees in the USA) while continuing to hire employees in India, the list goes on...

Pros

They have money and your job is not secure so negotiate aggressively. Ability to work from home when needed.

Cons

Weak and/or emotional senior leadership is unable to manage concurrent priorities and thrashes the organization from one emergency to the next. Inability to coordinate and prioritize needs across departments guarantees constant discovery of unplanned emergencies. Pervasive and ingrained culture of 'work harder (not smarter)' translates to a culture of continual OT and weekend work. In the last 18 months my staff have worked essentially every weekend. Institutionalized system of squelching staff performance ratings prevents realistic career recognition and meaningful career paths. Employees treated as interchangeable Mc-units. Employees are asked to give up approved PTO to work OT on a promise that the time will be given back... then they're laid off without receiving the time or compensation. Senior leadership says whatever is required with an 'end justifies the means' mentality and feels no obligation to it's workers. Senior management has next to zero understanding of Software Development and continually generates technical debt and employs haphazard and inefficient methodologies. As a result, software technology here is in an advanced state of decay and extraordinary events are required to move software forward. This is a company that will let go of their domestic tech workforce and restaff it in India to shift how it's financial numbers look for investors... at your expense.
