Pros

clinical resources emr Michigan DOOs supportive and available (all worked together to learn, cope and develop their offices)

Cons

right hand does not know what the left hand is doing -- BD thinks it runs clincial, clinical thinks it runs BD closed all Michigan offices with short notice (4-5 months) with constant lies as to reason why being closed. AVP supportive but had no answers to questions long process to hire new employes, most of orientation (on-boarding) computer based and completion time frames not realistic while performing/learning new role. No follow up during orientation Profits vs quality patient care

Pros

A learning experience that will make you more appreciative of your next job. You will learn how to work with EMR as that is the only contact yu will have that is meaningful.

Cons

I accepted the position with Amedisys with high hopes, as I had worked at a doctor's office that referred to them and their LPN's in the area were very good with the patient's and communicated in timely manner to the MD. When I went to work for them I did not realize the only regular RN in the office had been there only a few weeks. The other RN's were travelers, they have a huge turnover in RN's. My training was some very informative on line classes. Then I road with a traveler for about a week, every thing in the online training was thrown out the window. I was told a previous nurse could do an OASIS recerrt in about 15min. It takes 15min to enter patient demographics. You are paid per visit, a meager amount, the amount of drive time does not allow you to see enough patient's to make "productivity" and complete computer work in an 8-10 hour period. I have been an RN for many years and have worked home health before. If you saw patient's in a city it might be possibe. In rural areas, forget it. Due to my personal commitment had to do a good job and spend time with my patient, therefore I would stay behind if I didn't spend every evening on the computer with documentation until 10pm or later. Management was a jokt. I don't respect a DOO who does know how to use proper grammar, they represent the company! If you had a problem or concern it was invariably turned around to be your fault, no matter what it was. I spoke with others and was told not to bother going over her head as she and the AVP are best friends. The physical therapists said they would not work there if they had to deal directly with the DOO, they have a therapy director as a buffer. It was by far the worst position I have ever held, including as a teenager. I thought it was just that office until I found this site. I could go on and on. I have a new position with a different company and it is night and day. May teenager even noticed. He said "mom you must likt your new job." I told him I do and asked why he made that comment. His response " Because you are in a much better mood". From the mouths of babes. If you are considering Amedisys, don't do it!!
