Pros

Super easy job. Just smile and customers love you. One pair of glasses free a year and 50% off the rest of the time.

Cons

Horrible labs.. constantly getting glasses wrong, it seems like the labs do not check the glasses before they are sent out. When I was working there it seemed that at least 40% of the glasses prescriptions had something wrong with it but we were constantly having to tell customers to "get used to them" or the quality of the frames themselves is crap. even the "designer" expensive frames like ray ban are horrid. Oh and don't you dare have an issue that your general manager won't help you with. Neither will your district manager or the corporate office. pretty much they do not care if it does not affect them. Also next to no room to move up in the company. They will always hire outside instead of promoting from within.

They’ve lost their way

Pros

Fairly decent pay for management; employee eyewear benefits and 50% off coupons for friends and family.

Cons

Where to begin? They don’t tell you up front about the mandatory 45 hour plus work week. However your salary is based off a 40 hour work week. Your schedule lists you as 40 hours when figuring payroll. If I want to take a day off, I have to put in a full 8 hours, even though I’ve already worked 36 hours the other 4 days. All in I calculated over 200 unpaid hours a year. So basically my “Paid Time Off” is comped time. Now the company is transitioning away from being a value brand, making eye care and eyewear affordable for everyone. They are raising the metrics and becoming super high pressure for add ons. They push the drs to churn out 4-6 patients an hour, making time in chair 10-12 minutes, diminishing patient care. There is constant turnover because associates are not paid very well and commission is low. Management gets to fill in the gaps because payroll is micromanaged to the dollar! I’m told to hold off on doing past due store maintenance. Overall, I feel like the ship is sinking and I’m living my life on fast forward and not enjoying any of it!
