Pros

Being an airline pilot was once a theoretically great career...there has been a paradigm shift in the political and economic environment that makes it very difficult to feel that way anymore. Things have changed. I am very invested in my career. But somethin has gotta give SOON!

Cons

Numerous - mostly under the category of disrepectful leadership this company is burdened down with. They know all the latest catch phrases. But their behavior speaks much more loudly. There is a total disregard for the employees that is a systemic problem. Naturally this tends to affect the way employees treat customers. Many of us try valiantly to maintain our professionalism. But the leadership team at this airline constantly places barriers in our path. Daily you see evidence over and over of short-sighted cost cutting that has a deleterious effect on the ability of the employees to deliver our product. It is demoralizing to do your best all day long, and to face these unnecessary obstacles to performance. It is demoralizing to get boiler plate answers on why things are the way they are instead of fixes being applied to problems. This airline is often in love with it's processes at expense to the overall results! It is very very frustrating. We CANNOT continue to operate this way! I believe we give very poor customer service. I see it day in and day out. And I am tired of it!

Pros

Opportunities to fly large airplanes worldwide. Travel.

Cons

They do not value employees. You are an expense to be minimized. The management would love to outsource your job. There is no respect for the professionals who go out and deal with the consequences of managements incompetence. They don't take good care of the airplanes or crews. This will eventually lead to loss of life. It is only because of the extraordinary professional crew members that this operation is still as safe as it is.

Pros

Travel benefits - working with the public - would like to see our benefits combined with those of AA employees, I think we might get more for our money that way - sometimes it's hard to beleive that we work for the same company. Will be interesting to see what happens if and when the economy turns around and airline travel picks back up. I think that all the price hikes have helped some, but need to find a way to offer a little more to the people then what we do. Wish we could fit TVs on our planes - give the public a little entertainment.

Cons

long days - short nights. Sometimes reduced rest is not a good thing. Our flights are getting longer and it's hard to keep the pasengers happy when they are on a small plane. There must be something we can offer them to make their flights a little more enjoyable - just don't know what that wold be. Glad we don't charge for sodas, and that we give extra perks to our frequent fliers, but sometimes it makes the other passengers feel a bit left out. Not sure how our routes are selected but certain destinations have been taken away when we always seemed to be able to fill the planes.
