Pros
The mission of the AHA is very important and they do strive to reduce death and disability from cardiovascular diseases and stroke. There are some amazing employees through out the organization. Many are very dedicated and delightful people.
Cons
This is a very top down run organization and much of management tries to lead by fear. There is a tremendous amount of work placed on employees which just continues to get worse and worse. Leadership has clearly gotten feedback from employees that they are overwhelmed and overworked. Response from management is to message employees should work smarter, they must have issues with time management and if they cannot manage what work they have now, they can never be promoted. There is also messaging about work/life balance. They tell their employees how much they care about their health, etc., but send the opposite message by continuing to overload us and by the leadership they choose. It is rather disheartening for a major "health" organization to treat their employees so poorly.
