This job can be very isolating, yes you are on zoom calls with your team all day, but you’re still physically alone. After a few months that gets old.
The hourly pay is pretty low considering the standards they have for you. They expect you to get someone to spend $300+ by the end of your phone call. That takes some true talent and I think needs to be paid out better per hour.
The commission is focused heavily on retention, so you don’t make a lot per sale, but more so on how long the customer stays, which is sort of out of your control.
Making a sale is tricky, bc it’s not counted a sale until the customer passes a background check and all data is entered correctly. So before it’s a sale (approved) it’s considered a submit, and you don’t get paid on submits, even though you worked hard to win that customer over.
The leads you get are overworked (usually called 2-3x or more in a 14 day period) and most people hang up when they hear Angi. So to get a sale is a big deal bc out of the 100+ individual voicemails you make each day, you might talk to only a handful of people that will take the time to listen to your pitch.
You may be good on the phone but that isn’t enough. If you go a month without consistently getting 2 approvals each week you will get fired. This job is all about lead quality, talk time and close rate. If any of these are not good you will lose your job just as fast as you got it. That is why training groups are so big and so often, because they churn and burn through people.
You’ve got to be mentally tough, not just for rude people on the phone, but for the rough sales weeks where all you leave are voicemails. You can have a week where you get 5 sales in one day and go 2 weeks with no sales. Again it all falls back on the quality of leads which is what your manager provides.
The online leads (easy signups of customer who call in and want our service) go to reps who sells the most. So if you go through a rough patch, or go on medical leave and then come back, you get knocked out of the group who gets the easy leads bc your close average went down and you’ve got to start over.
