Pros

Not a lot to talk about. But you will love your customers and the work if you’re interested in operational technology software.

Cons

The company is becoming more of a dictatorship with orders coming straight from the CEO who seems completely out of touch with how employees at the grassroots level feel. The direct managers have lost all their power. Every decision has to be taken to the top and then decisions are taken. They’ve implemented a very strict hybrid work policy, and they record badge taps and also you have to report your work location in their HR tool. Extreme micromanagement. Also, when people ask them about this openly in the town halls, the response is that we spend a lot of money on office rental space so you have to come. Another time when somebody asked the CEO and he feels that it is less sustainable to drive to the office everyday, the CEO said that “buy a Tesla”… which is so insensitive. When somebody asks him that he can work as productively from home as from the office, his reply is that it’s not about productivity at all. It’s all about “quality” of work. Which makes me think that you can be as unproductive as you want as long as you’re working from the office. It doesn’t matter at all to him that 10 people around you could be shouting on their microphones all in meetings around the world. You could have taken the meeting from anywhere but you drive 40 minutes first to the office to take that meeting with people shouting all around you in their own meetings. The bonus each year is a joke! You would never get as much as you’re promised. The salary is much below market rates. If you are an immigrant that needs sponsorship for green card, you’d have to pay all the costs out of your pocket. The office cupcakes or the parties or team building activities have all stopped. AspenTech has killed the OSI culture.

Pros

Decent salary. Honestly some of the best, most dedicated colleagues I've known but generally not above manager level. Apologies to the few senior people who are solid. This review does not relate to you three. The company has a lock on its customers and makes a lot of money.

Cons

My fingers would freeze into arthritic claws before I'd run out of Cons to type. Fake reviews. Anything 3 or up is probably fake, which other reviewers have noted. No one likes working there. It's like the office scenes in The Matrix. It was also uncomfortable seeing the creepy infatuation with young female hires by certain senior leaders, although one was let go recently. Finally, one for the engineers - LCD (lowest common denominator) of talent and leadership.

Avoid at all cost

Pros

Job stability (during pandemic, there was very little laid off). However, this is probably due to high turnaround in the company. Can't really laid off people if they don't have enough people to start with.

Cons

Low base pay, low raise, and hard to get full bonus. They don't really care about employee happiness. If people leave, they'll hire more people in offshore sites (that cost less). Work wise, always being pushed to follow the existing standard and refuse to accept change. There's a lot of initiative to make the company more diverse but it's all talk. The career structure is a very long ladder (many high up only manage 1 person). Way too many SVPs and C-suite people being hired. No innovation and constantly buying smaller companies that doesn't make profit.
