Don't believe the hype!

Pros

It's slightly better than unemployment and most of the people below manager level are smart and talented. That said, you should look at any glowing review with a critical eye; no company has no cons and no company is perfect.

Cons

Management doesn't care about you. Its all about the shareholders and profitability. THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT THEIR EMPLOYEES OR CAREER DEVELOPMENT! The company also actively tries to manage their image by posting glowing reviews. I know because my former manager asked me to write one!

Pros

Good starting benefits and vacation (3 weeks)

Cons

If you want a fun work opportunity with flex time, growth, and freedom to excel...continue your search. You will not get that here at Aspen. No flex time No availability to work from home No snow days (use vacation day if you didn't make it in with 2+ feet of snow...) Forget day appointments No perks in terms of that. Mandatory work hours makes it hard to enjoy coming to the office. 2 years at Aspen and not one growth opportunity so don't expect that. With micro managers don't expect to excel and grow on a personal career level. Company moral is almost non existent and I feel bad for HR as they are trying to increase it, however, I feel most employees could care less about it.

I am sorry that you felt there was no growth opportunity in your role. We support career advancement through internal Career Development Workshops as well as outside resources, such as talks from career growth experts. We encourage all employees to take advantage of these resources and to discuss career goals with their managers to help identify opportunity for development. We continue to see a strong sense of employee pride displayed at many employee-led events, such as holiday parties, social outings and organized sporting events. We do recognize that as a modern software company there is a need to remain flexible and be understanding of our employee's personal commitments. This is why we continue to explore ways to implement practices that allow employees to comfortably tend to both personal and professional responsibilities.

Pros

There were some nice people you work with but that’s about it

Cons

There is absolutely no work life balance. I was working 100+ hours a week and when this was brought to the attention of HR and Management they shrugged it off like it wasn’t true. Management doesn’t have a clue what is going on. They blame high turnover on passion projects and claim they have a culture that people are dying to come back to. The culture is nonexistent. The place was run like a zoo at most times. No one knew who to go to for help and processes were an mess. The high turnover rate can also be attributed to them paying about on average 15-20% below industry standards in salary. Don’t even come here if you can’t find a job. Bonuses are based on company performance but the company is so separated that you at no point can tell how the company as a whole is doing. The only bonus received in my time there was stocks that were only allotted to you if you stayed with the company for a significant amount of years moving forward. Because they know how high turnover is there they had to do something to try and incentives people to stay. But that “bonus” was still an embarrassingly small amount for all.
