Pros

Core products are good. Acquisitions are unprofitable and bought on the cheap. The core technology and solutions are for the most part stable and valuable. There are some very smart and hardworking people here, who cannot make a decision because they are not allowed

Cons

Soooo many issues... Note almost all positive reviews are short and not informative. HR asks employees to write them. Top down leadership stifles innovation and growth The process to implement any change will be studied, slowed, and if implemented " watered down" No interest in feedback, data, or ideas if they don't match 1950's management style Customers are treated poorly in negotiations and contracts No work from home...why? Lack of trust with employees, management and customers It makes me sad a company like AspenTech exists in the tech world

Pros

1. Good benefit package of 401k, healthcare, dental, vision, paid time off 2. Good starting point for college grad 3. They are one of the few places hire international students

Cons

1. When the company decided to move, they told the media first. Employees read the news online to find out our very own company is moving. 2. Poor working culture: "free-rider" issue is extremely common in the company; the company has absolutely zero accountability when it comes to work; if employee faked result to make the number look better, even after it was discovered, there would still be nothing done to the person who faked the results; there are people run some side business and always disappear in the middle of the day to take care of the other business 3. The company is posting fake reviews to boost up their ratings. Please read them with a critical eye.

Not a bad company, awful R&D department

Pros

- The overall attitude of the Executives towards employees is very slowly becoming better over the years. - There are some smart people in the company. - The products are widely used and considered a standard in the industry.

Cons

- Smart people leave or are pushed out. - Awful culture in R&D, starting with the CTO WIllie Chan, and pushed all the way down. The culture of complete disrespect of people reporting to you, brownnosing and lack of responsibilities of the higher management. All responsibility rests only on the engineers. This culture is so deeply ingrained that will stay as long as that company exists. - Most incapable people are promoted into management so that at least they will not break or screw up anything. - Lots of managers just filling spreadsheets and passing through orders and reports. - All successful products were acquired, none were developed in-house. - At the higher level, complete lack of technical knowledge combined with the greatest self-esteem. - The same favorite managers and architects build systems that could never work, declare it a success and move to new projects, leaving their mess for other people to fix. And the process continues again and again.
