Pros

The company provides a needed service to those in need of specialty drug solutions. The opportunity to learn and to grow within the company are widely available. Most of the team is fun to not only work with, but fun on a personal level as well. If you want to grow your skills in back-end, data-driven development, this is a perfect opportunity.

Cons

Very little work, life balance unless you're senior leadership. Really tight deadlines that are promised prior to knowing what you are actually tasked to build. Senior leadership is an oxymoron. It's more like Senior Dictatorship. Many employees have the best intentions, but are pointed in the wrong direction or just plain left to their own devices.

Pros

Like-minded co-workers who will typically share the same frustrations with the company as you. If you're lucky you might get a $20k bump in pay if enough people leave that week.

Cons

The development team is a sink or swim environment and I'm not speaking about the code, I'm speaking about the leadership. They'll either love or hate you. However, they'll very quickly turn around and promote you and / or give you a raise if one of your co-workers leaves, even if you were days away from being fired. You can't deny it's a bit concerning when in the matter of a month 5 employees leave. The five people who left were all recently promoted and / or being groomed to be promoted. All had been with the company for over a year and were hard working developers.

Pros

Conveniently located next to Mall at Millenia (where you'll probably find better opportunities) Free "coffee" There's a decently comfortable sofa in the break room Sometimes the front desk has a little ramekin of candy Bathrooms

Cons

There is a decent work/life balance, provided you live in an alternate universe with 30-hour days. Developers, hopefully you're going in knowing that you'll just be maintaining an application with little documentation. Also, 90% of the developers who worked on the original application quit, so good luck there. Thankfully, the application is being restructured eventually in .NET, which is why the managers made the logical decision to hire new PHP developers, you know, for .NET. Also, ARX must have spent half their budget on apples and flour because there sure is a lot of turnover here. The managers are intensely focused on the desires of the clients and the company that they seem to completely neglect the well-being of their developers, who create the actual product. Saying "yes" to everything, allowing scope-creep, defining a strict procedure and then thinking they're allowed to deviate from it, tight deadlines, and very little company culture will harm the ability for developers to produce quality products.
