Pros

The number of opportunities to learn new skills and make lasting impacts are innumerable. Co-workers are all incredibly committed and intellectually excellent. Founding DNA is balanced and diverse. Feedback is heavily sought-after, well-received, and expediently acted upon.

Cons

You can definitely make more cash elsewhere, but if you want to really make an impact and learn more than just technical skills, Astranis is the place to be. A ludicrous amount of trust and responsibility is given to all levels of engineers, which weighs heavily, but gives you an invaluable opportunity to discover how brightly you can shine!

Pros

As a member of a small team, we are all able to have a huge impact on a really cool project plus contribute to a great mission to connect the world. I have learned about many aspects of fields outside of my specialty in mechanical engineering because we are so small and work together all the time, and it is enriching and interesting to broaden my knowledge base into some parts of RF, electrical engineering, software and thermal. The group of employees is very likeable and inclusive as well as smart, and since one of the perks is having free lunches, we have a built in time during the day to socialize. I have found it to be a good balance of people finding friends and being included at work without the requirement that you do external social events to feel like a real part of the company. For a startup, I think that the work life balance is quite good, and while I spend 50-60 hours working per week instead of 40, I think it is time well spent.

Cons

If you prefer shorter, less meaningful work, this is not the place for you. There are some growing pains of being small where we have been trying to build new systems for documentation and planning, sometimes this can be annoying to deal with when things change.

Pros

There is absolutely nowhere else I would rather be. As I recent graduate, I wanted a very technically challenging job where my work would have a large impact on the company. Astranis has given me this and more. My work starting day one has been meaningful and impactful. Astranis is still a small company so everyone's (even interns) work is critical for the company. Additionally I receive mentorship and guidance from the best engineers I have ever had the pleasure of working with. I also feel very comfortable with my peers. I feel like I teach them and they teach me constantly. The culture of Astranis is a great mix of fast paced startup and generous work-life balance. The company is very close and social. Social events are frequent and bring together people who normally don't cross paths often. I have never sensed any hostility between employees even when professional opinions differ. The mission of Astranis is also honorable and motivational. Working for a space company not in defense is refreshing. Great location in the city. It is very close to Caltrain, Bart, Muni, and the highway exit. Also it is surrounded by many startups you may have heard. San Francisco is also a really cool city. I enjoy exploring the city on weekends and meeting people from all over the world.

Cons

Astranis shares the cons of most startups. Some weeks require extra hours to meet a critical deadline. Pay is less than big tech companies. There aren't company wide standardization around project management yet but its getting better.
