Pros

Good and caring people as physicians, nurses, support staff and middle management. Paid Time Off benefits are pretty good.

Cons

New leadership is a disaster. No strategy. No focus. All about making headlines and cutting costs. Don’t know how to operate in a growing market. New CEO and COO are incompetent. CEO is more interested in getting his picture in the paper and making empty promises. His whole “first and best” mantra is a joke. COO has never been anywhere as complex as the old CHS but because he’s buddies with the CEO he got the job. All he pushes is cutting salaries and personnel. CHS is secretly laying people off all over the place so much so that HR can’t keep up with the paperwork.

Pros

Good PTO. Decent pay. Decent work/life balance. Job security. I enjoy the people I work with very much. Like not traveling.

Cons

Leadership/Management does not listen or does not care about the needs of the workers on the ground. All they care about is getting the work done regardless of the pain and anguish it causes. If they do listen or care, it is not recognizable. They are never around unless a crisis happens, then they are all in my business, wanting to know what me and my team are doing. They show no effort to provide a clear career path and/or help you along on that path. They keep people in place, which pigeonholes them into a role preventing them professional growth. IT leadership grovels at the feet of the CIO. The CIO dictates policy and standards that are applied globally, regardless of any special needs of certain teams. It is a one-size-fits-all mentality. Teams are denied basic technology to perform their job responsibilities as a result of this mentality.

Pros

The atmosphere is always positive as soon as you walk in the door. The staffing will always assist you with your needs.

Cons

Understaffing does put a stress on current employees. We end up working overtime, which leads to gettin burnt out. Team work really does make the dream work when you are short staffed.
