Pros

Decent benefits, annual check based of tenure, good market presence, that's about the best part of autonation. Not a lot of great things to speak of.

Cons

Schedule is worse than typical car business including being open on Easter Sunday. Lowest pay plan for both mgrs and sales associates, virtually no growth opportunity as they hire from outside first. 90% of the time openings are filled prior to posting the job. The compórtate office is full of people that have never worked in the stores and have no idea how their new programs will impact the business and employees. Terrible communication and no consistency in policy Things change from day to day or depending on who the GM or market president is.

Pros

The prestige of the name and work space. Corporate events. Access to Downtown and covered parking.

Cons

HQ is not a feel good place. Management rules by fear and being told 'you are replaceable, we are all replaceable' is common. Much of the company's public face is hypocrisy behind closed doors. They are focused on looking good but are out of touch with their own employees. Management is presented what they need to be shown and employees are expected and held to 24-hr received well. They notoriously pay vendors late and skirt the rules. The company runs like an insurance company - taking risks that they will only have to pay out or handle certain things. Appreciation is non-existent.

Pros

Company benefits More "corporate" environment than independent dealerships AutoNation is always hiring, plenty of jobs available, from sales consultants to accounting personnel

Cons

Regardless of what anyone in H.R. or Mgmt tells you on an interview, your income is capped. Regardless of whether you're straight commission. If you happen to exceed all quotes and objectives and reach a high income one month, your payplan with be changed the following month. Having been a sales manager and F&I Mgr, I know from experience. If you happen to earn $14,000 in one month, you'll go thru a payplan change, not to exceed $12,000 any month afterwards. They're a public company and they only income that matters is their own.
