Culture of Fear & Fake Reviews

Pros

Pay is good Co-workers are great - super hardworking and crazy smart I learned a lot by working for bad leadership there

Cons

Horrific leadership at the very top. Fear is rampant. I've had a tremendous career, and this was the only mistake I ever made in picking a place to work. Before you join, talk to the people in the trenches. Don't believe their reviews.

Thank you for taking the time to provide a review. It sounds like you've had some poor interactions with leadership, which is not in line with our culture. Availity does not support a culture of fear. Availity's leadership promotes a feedback-driven culture, where associates have a strong voice regarding our programs, services, and how we work. We have an open-door policy and encourage you to reach out to your manager, your Human Resources Business Partner, or another leader in the organization that you trust. They can provide you with some guidance. We have some tremendous leaders from whom you can learn so much.

All Work No Life Balance

Pros

People are friendly and the work is engaging and there seems to be generally career growth at this company. They do offer unlimited PTO however it will depend on your work load on how much time you can take a time. The building is really nice also.

Cons

While I understand that some jobs require some days of overtime Availity takes it to new heights it won’t matter to them much to have you work all 7 days a week until 12 am or 2am or 7pm on a weekend also logging 60hrs is almost commonplace. These off hour tasks that are done at that time in other companies are reserved for specific release management teams not everybody on a project team actions like this make me feel like they don’t actually respect me as a person or as an employee. These types of things will go on after you log 56-60hrs of work in 5 days. So the work life balance is exactly that your work is your life which isn’t sustainable I will have to warn any friends I have of this practice before I can ever feel comfortable endorsing the company as a good place to work. This type of balance is going to have to get addressed I am not going to apologize for not being a “it’s a job” apologist there are way too many companies that don’t force this type of work load for the same pay for this to fly. As an added bonus the benefits package are geared towards what seem like college kids not adults good luck with coverage costs if you have a family.

Thank you for taking time to share your feedback. We can write a long response, or we can just cut to the chase. We respect our associates and we want everyone to have a healthy work/life balance. We do not want you working the hours you have listed here. Something broke, and you need to speak up in a way that lets us do something about it. Not only do we want you to be healthy and refreshed, but we don’t want you to burn out. PLEASE work with your manager and/or your HRBP so that we can identify real solutions to finding a balance that works for you and your team—these types of discussions are welcome and encouraged. Let’s fix this!

Pros

Good location Flexibility in schedule but very long hours ( in office or at home)

Cons

The top leadership is out of touch with the employees. Layoffs every year with no warning No direction that filters down in a meaningful manner Employee communications has gotten worse Keep adding to executive team Not enough employees in certain areas of the business to get the work completed More concerned about spending money that what really counts

Thank you for taking time to write your review—we value your feedback. We agree on your “Pros” for sure - our new, state-of-the-art Jacksonville headquarters is conveniently located in the heart of Southside, just a stone’s throw away from some wonderful shops, restaurants and activities in the Town Center. It’s also very central to most residential areas in the Jacksonville area, making it an easy commute from the beaches, St. John’s county, or downtown Jacksonville areas. Regarding the “Cons”, it is true that we did do a large restructure earlier this year, but our strategy is set and it’s one of growth and expansion. With regard to employee communications, the HR team alone has 3 sets of chat sessions happening at this time and one of them is about work/life balance – get yourself invited to one of those so we can learn more about why you feel that way and do something about it. At Availity, we welcome difficult, honest discussions and will work to make improvements where it makes sense. As I’m sure you’re aware, each year we conduct employee pulse surveys to see how employees feel about working at Availity and about our leadership. We openly share survey results with our employees. Are we perfect? No! But are we committed to continuous improvement, ABSOLUTELY! In addition to quarterly All Employee meetings, we regularly send email announcements, and recently introduced an internal video series to keep employees informed about what is happening at our company. We also encourage quarterly check-ins for every employee with their manager. This is your opportunity to ask for direction, if you’re feeling lost. Is there a lot of work to do? Yes! Business is good, and everyone is busy—we know that. We still encourage a healthy work/life balance and recognize that some times might be more demanding on associates than others. We appreciate their flexibility and commitment during these times and strive to be equally flexible on the other side.
