Pros

The ability to work remotely

Cons

While there are dozens of cons to go over here by far the most egregious thing I’ve ever witnessed in my professional career took place at Aya. The CEO held a company wide retreat in Las Vegas. He mentioned other companies doing layoffs and how that would not happen at Aya. We all excitedly danced the night away thinking jobs were safe. Only a couple months later nearly all my high performing colleagues I worked with were laid off. I get the market, and business, and “being transparent about an employees future with the company” but what I don’t get is why the CEO would make these proclamations of No Layoffs when massive layoffs happened a couple months later. How many jobs could the CEO have saved if he put the Vegas retreat budget towards salaries, or better severance packages, or dare I say raises.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. Our team members power everything we do for our clients and clinicians, so we took the first opportunity we had to thank them for their years of hard work during the pandemic with a celebration in Vegas. We strive to do right by everyone who works with us and for us, and when some employees were notified about their limited growth opportunities at Aya due to reorganizing, we wanted to treat everyone with dignity and respect by being transparent and offering them generous packages and notice to ease the transition. If you'd like to discuss anything further, please reach out to our Chief People Officer, Amber Zeeb, at feedback@ayahealthcare.com.

Pros

Remote Monday through Friday/ No weekends

Cons

Micromanaging Stressful work roles Unrealistic expectations No opportunities for growth Amateur leaders/ Toxic positivity Outsources a lot of system work internationally, paying these employees less wages. This causes frequent errors within Aya’s processes, in which American employees have to intervene on the daily in addition to their original responsibilities

Pros

Remote first environment, flexibility, scrappy entrepreneurial vibe

Cons

Everything we’re complaining about regarding silent layoffs, OT cuts despite more work, pressure to work off the clock to keep up, not feeling like you can take your “unlimited” DTO, cutting bonuses, slashing insurance, replacing US remote workers with lower paid staff in Costa Rica and Philippines because, in Alan’s words, we’re just “button pushers”- we are screaming into the void, folks. This company is pushing us to the brink because they know they can and that when we leave, someone else will gladly take our place at a lower pay rate. Did y’all think we were any different than the travelers we mass cancelled or slashed bill rates for midcontract? We are ALL contingent workforce in this company’s eyes.

Thank you for your review. We’re glad you enjoy the flexibility we offer our team members and would like to address some of your concerns. While we’ve had to make some incredibly difficult decisions, we strive to treat all our employees with compassion. We’ve made voluntary offers with generous pay packages and benefits continuation, in addition to providing ample notice to help with the transition. Our pay is at the top of the market and our leadership team reviews our benefits offerings annually and negotiates pricing to ensure we can continue to offer robust, competitive plans for our employees. Aya is committed to complying with all applicable federal, state, and local laws, including all applicable wage and hour laws, and we encourage you to report any alleged issues to Human Resources in accordance with Aya policies. If you’d like to provide more details about your experience, please reach out to feedback@ayahealthcare.com so we can connect.
