Pros

Freedom to operate, the company stated values are good, good security in job, operational colleagues generally good and helpful to each other. Field-work opportunity to work with many different companies and cultures. Lack of rigid work responsibilities can be an advantage and a disadvantage. Clients value and respect product services at point of delivery. Client loyalty maintained despite finance's : 'customer focus - what's that?'.

Cons

Salary indifferent. Leadership expects behaviour and levels of competence it does not hold itself to. A sustained corrupted culture of incompetent but loyal senior management telling the directorship what it wants to hear which suits both parties. The 1-2 competent directors who could be agents of change are considered a threat to this stable culture and end up with short tenure. Product services sold in car saleman style. Technically competent senior account managers would be more appropriate! Competent personnel are held back to service the aims of senior managers. Pension indifferent

Pros

Some great coworkers.

Cons

Management is more concerned with time spent at your desk than the quality of work that gets done. The motto here is “everyone is replaceable,” this is instilled throughout management and is the president's favorite phrase. As an employee in this company, one should feel comfortable going to HR for support on any issue, here they merely create a facade of caring and support—instead they're more concerned with their reputation. The turnover rate here is incredibly high because people are constantly leaving as well as getting fired. The salaries here are quite low compared to the rest of the market, also large increases/promotions are a rare find here. It is very difficult to move positions once you're here, especially if you're trying to achieve a higher position. Also, there is no recognition here for going above and beyond, while it's true that people shouldn't need motivation to do a great job, it definitely helps the morale of a place if the managers acknowledge the great work that their teams are doing.

BSI Response

Thank you for taking the time to bring your concerns to our attention. As a business, we expect some people to leave every year because personal situations change. The average tenure of our employees is increasing. Since 2011, we have consistently grown and have increased our headcount by 26% . As with any organization, opportunities for advancement vary from period to period. BSI fosters growth as well as movement from within – in 2014, we had 7 people who were promoted from within the organization. BSI also encourages lateral movements and movement across countries. We have several employees who are seconded to the USA from other countries – and from the USA to other countries. Salaries vary among position and experience of the individual. Following the last employee engagement survey, we recognized that more work needed to be done to ensure that employees understood their pay relative to the market and their contribution. Our PDR process was revamped and improved to show better alignment between not only what we do but how we get things gone. We appreciate your insights and continue to aspire to make excellence a habit.

Pros

Senior management make themselves available and work hard to communicate with all of the business Easy access to training opportunities Good benefits package, Enjoyable work Definite culture shift over the last couple of years meaning that staff have more input into their processes and get rewarded for doing so. Very stable long term prospects

Cons

The job can really be made or broken by the skill, enthusiasm and support of line management. There is tremendous pressure on work-life balance and the support that you receive on this can make all the difference. There has been a shift in senior management attitudes and this is now starting to filter down the business. However, if you are someone who likes to perform above average, it is quite difficult to find the time to dot every i and cross every t.
