      Growing Company with Great Benefits

      Pros

      The company is growing! They just brought on a new division, Verb8tm, and there’s a lot of new contracts in the works. Despite the growth, it still maintains a startup feel – people wear many “hats” and there is great team mentality. There are also a lot of side perks - they bring food in every Thursday, and there’s a café with a fully stocked coke fridge and snacks. The office is brand new and features a game room and gym. Also, in an economy where benefits are typically being cut, it’s not the case here – benefits are awesome! Insurance is FREE with a company-provided HSA, unlimited PTO, and 3 months paid maternity/paternity leave.

      Cons

      There have been some changes in company structure which keeps you on your toes, but it’s to be expected when a company is growing with new divisions being added. You just go with it, and it’s ultimately a good thing.

      We appreciate you mentioning even in the cons that the ship was turning around. Our CEO David Tohn solidified his core leadership team in 2016 and we have done away with the VP's of everything culture that some companies get caught up in. Be assured that we are focused and have been moving forward with stable/long term GOV contracts.

      An exciting company with great growth

      Pros

      The company has a wide set of customers in multiple sectors - I have the chance to work on a wide variety of different, challenging problems and learn in the process. The culture is relaxed with a great transparency with the senior leadership. The benefits are TOP NOTCH...zero out of pocket expense for healthcare (premiums or deductibles), no PTO - take what you need; and the people are from the A-Team.

      Cons

      The last year was rough with a restructuring and cost-cutting. We are in great shape now - lean and ready to grow. There is ALOT of work for a wide variety of customers, so hours can be pretty demanding.

      Transparency is KEY in small business. 2015 did see some restructuring and we now have a great team in place focused on the lean model you describe, but without sacrificing the corporate culture of taking care of people in a fun collaborative environment we pride ourselves on!

      Good from afar

      Pros

      The people, environment and benefits are all amazing. You get the great feel of a start-up company and everyone is really friendly. Fully stocked kitchen that allowed you the option to eat for free at work everyday, they order pizza every thursday for employees, and they also have other random times when they buy you lunch. Ping pong tables, foosball, and putting practice makes this a fun work space. If you work at BTS, you are most likely happy at the moment.

      Cons

      They now have a history of laying off many people at a time. I was laid off, along with 10% of the company because contracts were drying up and they had to "tighten the belt". Not sure if it's an issue of over-hiring or just poor money management to get through tougher times. After getting laid off, all of those free things that they provide for you lose a little bit of their shine. So that is the negative, otherwise, it was a joy to work there while I did.

      For sure 2014 was a turbulent time for the company, I would like to say that the new leadership team is very happy that they have been able to retain fun and collaborative environment you describe, as well as stabilize our contracting situation for years now. We have been an award winning employer with sustained growth for 2015, 2016, and we look forward to continued success in 2017!
