      Product focuses on UX Ambitious company Great HR Opportunities to grow (but you have to go for it yourself)

      Cons

      Very demanding work environment Misalignment affects product development No effort to create alumni (you are good as long as you count as FTE, when you leave, bridges are burned)

      Bad product, poor management

      Pros

      International atmosphere. Young team. Many opportunities to expand knowledge. Decent benefits. Potentially nice product line. Challenging environment.

      Cons

      Activities in the consulting department mean slinging crap at customers and then cleaning up the mess. Product with no clear vision and no attention to real customer needs. Product management is nearly absent and focuses only on short term needs. Upper management treats employees identical to the customers: fail to deliver on promises and just keep lying until they're bled dry. This leads to a huge knowledge and a long line of angry customers. Only positive information on the net you can find about this company is from their own website. The fact that staff reviews here mention they "do not want to share" the cons should be a red flag too.

      Great salary and good people. Definitely worth working at Backbase.

      Pros

      The salary is at a very high level for Amsterdam standards. You get a lot of travel opportunities all over the world. The people are very nice, you make a lot of friends within the company. Effort is recognized and people acknowledge hard work and it is appreciated and returned. Small size also means that you know everyone by name. SEO can sell a fridge to an Eskimo. Expert Services manager at the time of this review is the best manager I ever had.

      Cons

      The product needs a lot of work and causes frustration. The company is fast paced and you may switch projects a lot when working as a consultant. A lot of projects are undersold/underestimated which causes tight deadlines and more frustration. Projects are supposed to be developed using an agile methodology, but they are not in reality.
