Pros

* Cohesive management team with zero politics. * Recent management changes have brought new life and excitement into the company. * The company values entrepreneurial experience and the attitude that our past failures move us closer to future success. * Freedom and latitude to call the shots. We are held accountable for the results, but we get to determine the game plan to get there. * Comprehensive benefits plan - the best I've ever seen for a company this size (401K match, medical, dental, commuter benefits, unlimited PTO, etc.). * Fun, collaborative, NON-TOXIC environment that has me waking up energetic and excited to go to work each day.

Cons

* A fully stocked kitchen brimming with snacks means gaining 15 pounds in the first month is inevitable.

Pros

Able to work remotely, opportunities to travel, beautiful office in DT Chicago, flexible PTO, WFH equipment and WFH stipend provided by employer.

Cons

Heavily understaffed. Inconsistent quality of work from person to person, lack of accountability for productivity. Huge culture of burn out and the clients can be harsh to work with.

Cons

Pay. Workload is ridiculous. Upper management comes to meetings and tells you they can just hire new people if you don’t feel valued enough. They do not care if you come or go. Underpaid/undervalued

It’s disappointing that this has been your view of life at Backstop, and I appreciate you sharing it so that we can both accept the feedback and address some concerns. Regarding compensation, Backstop provides an investment in our teammates beyond base salary. Our health and welfare benefits are top-notch and we have exceeded the market in limiting cost increases to employees for 3 years running. We provide a rich 401k match with no vesting period, because we want to partner in investing in your future. We provide employees with very flexible learning budgets every year to propel their development and provide unlimited opportunities to grow their career. And our unlimited PTO program recognizes that time, to be with loved ones, to travel and to pursue other interests, is a commodity beyond measure. All that aside, salary is important. And we have invested time and resources in ensuring that our salaries are informed and driven by the market. I know our managers and leaders to be some of the most caring and conscientious I have encountered in my career, but I also know them to be human. Meaning miscommunication is possible, and sometimes we all have a bad day. I believe this to be the case in your example, and if you are still employed with us to share these concerns with our SVP of P&D more directly and engage in a dialogue so that we can improve.
