Pros

Some of the nicest and smartest people you could want to work with.

Cons

Great ideas limited by a few managers blocking ideas, feeding on people’s fear, burning out staff so they can take credit for their work.

Thanks for the feedback. In regard to our kind and intelligent people we completely agree and feel it takes one to know one:-) It’s disappointing to hear you feel unrecognized for your achievements. However, we are puzzled by your comments related to exploitation of our corporate culture. Whenever a member of the Backstop Team submits a letter of resignation, we hold extensive exit interviews in order to learn more about their overall experience within the company. We value learning and growth above all, and within our previous feedback, this theme has never been voiced. As you know we are staunchly protective of the collaborative culture and go to great lengths to cultivate our growth mindset. Here is where we need proactive colleagues like you to help us. Casual atmosphere and fun work environment don't make up for the lack of opportunities and poor upper management.

Pros

- Casual, relaxed atmosphere. That means couches, shorts and sandals, and a breakroom filled with games. You'll find this at most software companies. - Loads of excellent employees, though they're mostly on the engineering side of things. - Fairly solid location.

Cons

- The office is divided into two sides: Client services and engineering. Thought CS makes up for roughly a third to half the company, they are treated differently than the engineering side. - Poor communication from the new upper management. - Pay is below industry standards, especially for the client services side. - Some of the client services people can work 60-70 hour weeks, simply because of how their pay is structured. Engineers are free to work whenever they want.

Software needs revamping...

Pros

The company culture is pretty good and benefits are okay.

Cons

The software Is severely outdated and in desperate need of overall revamping. There are so many issues with the software it’s extremely hard manage upsells and retain existing clients. Most of the P & D teams clearly have no idea how most of the features work. Many individuals who had working knowledge of it have left.

We hope this guess informs a good response. Feedback from current and former employees caused us to pivot our go-forward strategy, team structure, and leadership of this part of our platform. We recognize that it is a highly specialized aspect of what we do and what our clients need in their day-to-day operations, so Backstop has hired a new head of the division to steer us better in investing in our people, platform, and product. He brings a great deal of domain experience, and the new structure will leverage existing institutional knowledge while creating internal career growth for the remaining team members. We are also investing heavily in our core platform and working with leading cloud technologies, frameworks, and architectures such as React, Mongo, Container-based microservices, Real-time data pipelines, and ML Services from AWS. We regret that your experience was not at par with others here, and thank you for your contributions during a time of transformation. Best wishes to you in your future roles.
