Pros

The ability to work remotely. The team that I worked with was amazing.

Cons

Leadership does not make good decisions on how to move forward with the company. Lots of pivoting to different directions. Leadership hired so many individuals and had no plans for growth, training, and support. It is well know that a high level executive is very difficult to work with and holds lots of power. If you disagree or challenge this individual you were on the chopping block. This caused many co-workers to stay silent when they should have been bringing up their concerns. I had 5 different managers in the span of a little over a year. There was a layoff in June or July 2022 and then there was another layoff in Feb 2023 leaving over a 100 individuals without jobs. I was layed off in 2023 and the company then hires 2 individuals not even 2 months after the layoffs. The company is very unstable The company made an aquisition and ever since that aquisition the company has been divide into two separate groups. Bamboo Health has to always follow the company they aquired rules and processes without input of employees leaving two divided teams. The company also allows individuals to basically throw a tantrum when they don't get their way. I had a peer threaten to quit unless we did what he wanted. Managers said that they would work on change within the department but none followed through. 4 days before my layoff I was contacted by the high level executive that is diffcult to work via text and the message said "You can no longer contact me directly. If you need my assistance you will need to go through the CPO". I asked the CPO about this via email and go no response. 3 days before I was layed off I told the CPO that I was going to work on something over the weekend. His response was "no need to work on the weekend we have plenty of time" There was a project that had been in flight for a year before it was given to me. My team worked on it for 6 months. The project was being sponsered by a customer. The project was 100% complete with the exception of development. 2 days before development the CEO pulled the project and never gave an explanation and it was not because of the customer. It's things like this that shows the company doesn't know which direction they are moving in.

Thank you for sharing your experience at Bamboo. We are glad that you enjoyed your Bamboo team and opportunities for learning within the company. We are passionate about revolutionizing healthcare and, as a result, grew rapidly in 2022. Global uncertainty in the markets have created conditions that have required many companies to pull back on hiring and reduce headcount during this time. Bamboo did not make this decision lightly and strove to provide career and financial support to those who were unfortunately impacted by the reduction.

Pros

The team members and people are wonderful! Everyone is willing to help and share knowledge.

Cons

*Even after yearly Salary/Reviews, salaries for legacy employees are lagging and below market. New employees are being brought in 20-30k higher base salary than legacy employees (even those with extremely high performance). Moving to other departments is limited (internal employees are too experienced/would be bored but the positions pay 20k plus more). *The approach to culture is more about being friends and being positive. Many want to work hard and are not "cheerleaders" and are scared to speak up as that's deemed not on brand. May not be a good fit for those who want to do their best and contribute to goals without wasting valuable time in chats, playing games, etc. *Happiness and being able to do your job are dependent on your manager. There are some micro-managers in the org. who along with the management style, also create barriers to work, barriers to build relationships with team members and leadership, and hinder growth. When there has been a large turnover within teams (seen in multiple areas), rather than identifying the root cause (ill suited manager), new people are brought in. Eventually the manager leaves, but only after quality employees have left and the org is left rebuilding. *No leadership/growth paths: Depending on the part of the organization you are in, Leadership/growth is determined more by who you know and are friendly with, rather than knowledge. That has always been an issue within Appriss as a whole, but with the changes at the organizational level has been exacerbated.

Thanks for your input! We’re in agreement, the people here rock! We’d also like to comment on a few points in your review regarding salary and our culture. Many factors go into evaluating our salaries, with location and experience of the employee being the main components. Bamboo Health takes great pride in the fact that we promote from within and that we have many employees with long tenures. If an employee works hard and develops new skills, then promotions and pay increases are merited. We have a performance-based culture and we do not promote on tenure alone. We support employee professional growth through tuition and certification reimbursements and look forward to expanding our development opportunities. Our recent company engagement survey indicates that 92% of our employees think that Bamboo Health is a Great Place to Work. Our culture is a HUGE reason for that achievement. While many of our employees are remote, we encourage and seek a variety of team building opportunities that are both fun and help our employees to connect with one another. Thanks again for your feedback! Wishing you all the best.
