Pros

The school has an impressive ambition to be both a top tier research university and a Christian-identified one. With the new leadership, this goal seems achievable within a decade.

Cons

Some influential faculty still view diversity as a threat and will do everything they can to prevent nonwhite and women faculty from joining and/or finding promotion in the university.

Pros

Insurance benefits are good for salaried workers, and work community is family-like if you desire a "hometown" feel.

Cons

Pay is low. Women and minorities are under-represented. Sexual discrimination, harassment and worse are swept under the rug.

Pros

I met some nice people there. I enjoyed my students. The pay and benefits were good. If you are a conservative Southern Baptist, you would probably like it there.

Cons

It is a small minded, mean-spirited place where you have to watch your every step. It is like going in a time-warp back to the worst of the 1950's. I was actually told that "Baylor is not a place where women can speak up. If you are a woman or a minority or have socially progressive views, you will probably not like it there.
