Pros

Makes you realize the important things in life......... Friends & Family.....

Cons

The most downright, god awful place to work! If it was not for the fact that GE developed and still owns this software the company would be bankrupt. The majority of the senior management team have no or little experience outside Gensuite so don't understand the simplest business principals or how to manage staff. The company likes to recruits recent graduates and "molds" them into the "Gensuite Way". Which normally takes the form of cajoling, humiliating and bullying them in submission, that's if they say around long enough. Anyone that joins the company with outside experience is not taken advantage of and if they don't become just another Yes Man to the CEO and VP's they are side lined. They make a big deal of their "international offices" which are in many cases one man bands. Or simply IT sweat shops in India or China where staff treated even worst than in the USA. They work long hours and take work home with them and work all night at home as they are too afraid to speak out as they will lose their jobs. Company procedure are awful and forever changing and only really understood by the Some of the senior management team, everyone's else lives in fear of getting something wrong and the horrible consequences that will follow. No HR team to approach with issues or problems, you are expected to take them up with the senior management team, who are normally the cause of the problem!! Endless management speak and over complication of the simplest things, you are micro managed and treated as if you are some sort of idiot. I showed my partner a work email he read it many times but could not understand it as it was so full of pointless empty management speak, it was like something out of The Office......You are expected to do everything from software development, training of customers, invoicing etc, etc. Their is no accounts department to speak of and company never really knows exactly how it's finances are doing. Gensuite thinks it's the most innovative EHS software in the world, but once you start to look around you will see they seem to copy everything other companies do. They get most of their business from GE as they get Gensuites services at a cut rate and new business from GE employees moving to other companies.

Pros

Decent place to make contacts/friends and share cocktails at holiday parties. Parking is close and free.

Cons

Upper management/ownership is out of touch with the majority of employees and have unrealistic expectations. Employees hold one job title but are required to juggle as many as 3 but often many more jobs that could and should each be staffed independently. The work load is monumental and employees are basically set up to fail. Say goodbye to any work/personal life balance. It is not uncommon to receive 100+ emails in a single day from both internal sources and customers. Way too often (several times a week) the emails arrive with an ultimatum ... "do xyz by the close of business today or face the consequences." Nearly all the employees seem to genuinely like the work they do and the customers they work with but are also unhappy at Gensuite because of the work load, impossible deadlines, busy work, endless meetings and badgering from an ineffective group of middle management that make the work environment horribly stressful and unproductive. There is no true HR department to protect or at least examine employee concerns. Team Leaders/Middle managers are rarely held accountable. Those working under them, at their direction are bullied and often belittled for their work. Raises and promotions are few and far between even though they are nearly always promised and held out like a carrot at the end of a stick. Don't expect an annual review. Even though that is the policy, management does not make you or your review a priority. Most reviews if done at all are months late.
