Pros

Gratis. You get to know your customers. You get really good at eyebrow waxing. Some of your coworkers are team players.

Cons

Low paying for being a licensed professional. Unrealistic sales goals. Always pushing you for more. You're supposed to be pushy and sell more and more products to people who you are doing services on. People don't like feeling pressured to buy so many things every time they get their eyebrows waxed. Having to traffic stop is horrible and people don't like it. They will stop coming back if they feel like they can't shop or get waxed without someone trying to shove products down their throats. Being hired to work for Benefit but having to work for Ulta also and sell their products at the same time.

Pros

Free product(allowance every 6 mos, and you receive most A-launches); steady clientele & tips (depends on store). You do a LOT of facial waxing, so if you work there for a while, you'll probably end up being able to do brows with your eyes closed. Work-life balance was great at my location.

Cons

Unrealistic sales goals, our counter had reached the big $500k goal that less than 25 counters nation wide reached- we had a meeting the following week about how we should do $600k the next year. They don't believe in customers "not having time" - any objection they might have, you're expected to counter it and get them in your chair at any cost. Depending on what retailer you're in, the environment is different. I've been in both a Macy's and an Ulta, both of which had horrible management, and I have disliked my regional executives as well. Very rude, dishonest, catty and two-faced. Those who have mentioned turnover are 100% correct. It's so insanely high and it appears they LIKE it like that! And absolutely no opportunity for advancement. Corporate positions are a frickin tough thing to come by as there are so few, and I live in SF which is where the company is based!! It is so stressful for no reason. My coworker had been on leave multiple times for anxiety/depression and boy did I consider doing the same. Instead, I found a new job.

Pros

free samples, cute colorful prdoucts

Cons

This company says they are about laughter and fun....well if you are not a die hard rocker/biker chick with tattoos with a bad attitude then count yourself out!! If your style is not pin-up girl look then count yourself out from the door!! This is a mean girls high school "you can't handle this job" environment! There are no rules and regulations so co-workers can talk to you any type of way and management does nothing. This company only puts effort and time into their aestheticians so if you think you are important, think again! They will not train you or certify you if you do not do brow wax services. Your efforts making sales and running around traffic stopping means nothing at the end of the day. Think twice before putting yourself in a bad position! Also, if you are African American this is not the line you want to represent. I have been on all the websites, seen reviews all across the board and have only been able to count 5 African American girls in pictures from here to Germany! Get a clue and listen or allow yourself to get caught looking for another job in the first weeks of gettng hired! They claim that you dont need to know how to put on makeup but then you'll get slaughtered you on the sales floor in front of customers when you try to do your best...it would be useful for them to just look for makeup artists. You'd be better off applying as a freelance makeup artist. THEY WILL NOT TRAIN YOU so be careful applying to this company! The managers are too busy to deal with you or your issues.
